Some of you need to get outside of the SMU bubble and experience big time football.
I don’t think some SMU fans realize how far behind the program is. A lot of fans even act like we pay a lot. 2 mil might have been impressive in 2008 when we hired June, but I bet that since then the average coaches pay has doubled. There is also a bigger gap between the P5 and G5 due to the playoff. With the old BCS I guarantee you UCF would be ranked a lot higher. Someone like Sumlin, that has P5 options, isn’t even taking a look at SMU.

Yes, I would have done the same thing - ie move on to a bigger job with more upside and way more money (although not a big fan of the area/fan base - not my cup o tea but different strokes).
And, yes, I can still be pissed and tell him to not the let door hit him on the way out. I'm an SMU alum and that's where my loyalties lie. Shame on me.

Being a SMU alum doesn’t mean you can’t wish the guy well for getting a clear cut promotion. Acting bitter about it is petty at best, childish at worse. If he left for a bad P5 job or another G5 job then I’m right there with you. But this was neither.

Chad was ready to love any P5 that came in and greatly increased his salary as evidenced by his desire to go to Baylor last year. I am just glad it was Arkansas and not Baylor.

Yeah Chad moving to Arkansas is kind of a non-cash benefit for SMU. It shows that coaches can come to SMU and move to a decent P5 job rather than what it looked like where your best destination is canadian football.

If people in Arkansas think Chad is loyal to them they are sadly mistaken.

I’ve never been a fan of a team that had our coach hired by a better school. I feel like I have a new team to cheer for. If you started cheering for SMU in 1989 like I did, and that’s the only sports teams you’ve ever truly followed, you would have battered fan syndrome like I do. I am still ecstatic we won 7 games this year. Second most exciting season I can ever remember as a fan (2009 was pretty fun)

I agree with this. I bet he moves on after his first successful season at Arky.

Define success at UA. 8 wins?

Loyal? There's no loyalty in sports in either direction. It's all about winning and money.

Where would he go? I could see him leaving for A&M someday but if he is successful why leave the SEC?

He would leave for TAMU. He's an Aggie. He would be loyal to them and them.only.

Well from what I know of Chad, however many wins it takes to get a better offer.

The same can be said about your obsession with JJ.
