Re: Sonny's reputation with HS coaches?I’ve never participated in a buyout negotiation so I’m not going to pretend like I know the rules. In theory, if Cal is on the hook for $2.5m a year to Sonny and we only pay let’s say $0.5m then they still have to pay $2.0m right? If it’s something like that then that makes perfect sense why it’s being keep hush hush about it.

Re: Sonny's reputation with HS coaches?alum11- like you I'm not a contracts guy but I think you are basically correct with the exception that the coach must attempt to get a new deal with a reasonable number (negotiate in good faith). IIRC charlie strongs new contract was designed to pay him a lot less while the whorens money is still being paid and then more in the later years.
Re: Sonny's reputation with HS coaches?Maybe he was a coach in waiting without being on the payroll. He could get paid by Cal, put his name in for openings as Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida State, etc., where he would not be a target (to show he's trying), and then when Chad left, he was instantly our guy.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Sonny's reputation with HS coaches?
SMU was top tier program before Meyer arrived. Have you ever heard of Walker, Rote, Benners or go look up the old out of conference schedules with schools like Mizzou, Ohio State we won more than we lost. The sw conference was tough in those days SMU was a middle of the road team but could hold its own against any team Sent from my KOREAN knockoff using Tapdance 5
Re: Sonny's reputation with HS coaches?Coach Klemm is that you? Coming on board to recruit for us?
Well I have been a HS coach (18 yrs) and my last name does begin with Klem but I bet you are talking about a different Klemm. I'm out of the coaching/recruiting gig now. Just teach a little English down in Comfort Texas.
Just make sure you don’t park in Coach’s parking spot when you get to campus.
Somebody knows too much. ![]()
Re: Sonny's reputation with HS coaches?Comfort is one of the true "jewels" of Texas . I lived in Fischer , Texas for several years and enjoyed several jaunts
over to Comfort.
Yessir I have enjoyed it for most of my life. Born and raised here.
Re: Sonny's reputation with HS coaches? So much for assuming Lane Kiffin was a jumper:

Re: Sonny's reputation with HS coaches?
Trying to win the press conference eh? BTW, Sonny just got a commitment from a JUCO OL with offers from Texas, TCU, West Virginia, Nebraska, etc. Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Sonny's reputation with HS coaches?
Maybe he loves Boca?
Re: Sonny's reputation with HS coaches? He spells it out. Mom and dad, brothers, nieces and nephews all
In the area. Whole team is returning and he is enjoying life. Probably has a cheap buyout also. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Sonny's reputation with HS coaches?he really is in a position that he needs to stay somewhere more than a year to rebuild his reputation as a jumper

Re: Sonny's reputation with HS coaches?
Agreed, but a 10 year deal? Hahaha, if he manages to stay at FAU and continues winning it wont be long until FAU is in the AAC.
Re: Sonny's reputation with HS coaches?10 year deal sounds pretty permanent. Good for both of them.
