This will also be the first game I've seen SMU play in person this season, so I'll feel better qualified to comment about the team after tomorrow night.

SMU vs. UHAnyone else in the area planning to see the game in person? I'll be there tomorrow night cheering for an SMU victory. It will probably take a major effort by SMU to secure a win, so I'll do my part.

looks like the rout is on, 55-31. SMU's bball season really going downhill fast. This loss will drop us to .500 and with 5 regular season games to go, I don't see this team finishing with a winning record. Hopefully these guys can at least win one of the home games against Marshall, UCF or UAB
Just got back from the game. I just started following SMU since Coach Bennett was hired, so I'm new to SMU basketball (this was the third game I've seen in person).
The Ponies got out-athlete-d tonight, pure and simple. Dyer was unbelievable. It seemed like he couldn't miss. As for SMU, Derek Roberts was impressive. He looked like easily the best athlete on the team. He clearly has the quickness and athleticism, but he seemed a little hesitant to drive. He flew by every guy UH had on him when he wanted to, but he didn't do it often enough (at least for me, but then, I played football). Bomba Fall is a lot quicker than I expected, and looks like a good athlete. He also looked like a rookie out there, but there's no debate about his potential. I anticipated Shawn Bradley part 2 -- far from it. He runs really well for a guy that big. He'll be fun to watch when he adds some weight and strength.
I agree with BB. While SMU may have had a slight height advantage, UH had the better athletes.
Fall has the tools, but is clearly still in the learning stage. If he continues to work on his all-around game, he'll become a heck of a player. However, calling him an NBA player is at least two years too early. Despite the score, SMU actually played decent half court defense. Where they got in trouble was transition defense and an inability to secure most of the loose balls. The biggest disappointment was the play of the SMU guards. Both Hopkins and Willingham had difficulty bringing the ball up, starting the offense and/or beating their man off the dribble. There were WAY too many five second calls, ten second calls, bad passes, slips, etc. If the guards can't get the offense started, the entire team is in trouble.
