How fitting that a Georgia tandem breaks the Pony Express record. It was Georgia's Herschel Walker who took the Heisman from Dickerson, so why not?

A little different now. GeorgiaΓÇÖs tandem includes yards gained in bowl games. Pony Express total yardage does not include bowl games.

Then how in the world could the record count?

put an asterisk by it if you want to but just like the NFL, NBA and MLB...today's records for a season/career accomplishments count even though there are more games played today than there were in yesteryear

I'm just saying that if they count yardage in bowl games for the Georgia tandem, then they need to count Dickerjames' bowl yards. Apples and apples.

Had to look it up. James did run for 225 but BYU held Dickerson to only 110 in that Holiday Bowl

Official stance is that the stats for bowls in the past were not considered "official" and aren't part of the NCAA record book, and they don't want to go back and rewrite history. Between the 1980 Holiday Bowl and the 1983 Cotton Bowl, Dickerson and James ran for an additional 513 yards, which would bring their total to 8705 yards.

Assuming the yardages are correct, then dem JawJah boyz gonna need to pick up 422 yards to really top the Pony Express record......only 238 the second time vs. Auburn!!! Record seems safe to me!!!
