Re: Who's our DC Coach, nowm
Pay no attention to him.
Re: Who's our DC Coach, nowmQuick story... Dykes is friends with a former coach at SMU who highly recommended he take the job. After taking the position, Dykes hasn't communicated with that former coach at all... he has gone silent until his staff is hired.
Do you really think they don't have their 5 top targets lined up? Or is it more likely that they are actually keeping a tight ship? I like the professionalism of the tight ship, personally.
Re: Who's our DC Coach, nowmif he had a top 5 list for DC I suspect we would have one by now. The fact that he got played (IMO) by the toad coach, who kept him on the string for a week, left him in a bind to find others and now he is behind the curve.
Re: Who's our DC Coach, nowmlolololol
Re: Who's our DC Coach, nowm
I guess this week will tell how far behind the curve he is. As a recruit would you commit to a school that in essence had no D staff? Plus the results at the end of next season will tell just how effective his staff was in both recruiting and getting players to a winning level. Laugh fool, laugh.

Stallion, if you aren’t careful you will turn into this guy
Re: Who's our DC Coach, nowmOn a positive note, no matter who Sonny hires, or how long it takes, it'll be better than the Morris hire of Van Malone.

BINGO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Who's our DC Coach, nowmThere are a lot teams without coordinators at this point even Alabama. The sky isn't falling.
Re: Who's our DC Coach, nowm
...what about the missile launch?
Re: Who's our DC Coach, nowm
Alabama has Saban and the rest of the staff out recruiting. We have Sonny Dykes and only one defensive position coach. Defense is where we need the help. I was iffy at best on Dykes. He has a history of terrible defenses. None of this is helping gain my confidence in this hire. Every day that goes by without at least a DC named lowers the quality of this class.
Re: Who's our DC Coach, nowmblack horseshoe announced on another forum that a DC coach had been hired. However, I suspect this might be fake news as there is no info on SMU Mustangs or any other public site confirming this information.
Re: Who's our DC Coach, nowmNot fake news.
#26 D nationally do anything for you? From footballscoop SMU: Sources tell FootballScoop Sonny Dykes is planning to hire Northern Illinois defensive coordinator Kevin Kane in the same capacity. Kane has served as NIU’s defensive coordinator the past two seasons. Prior to that he coached linebackers at both Kansas (2015) and NIU (2012-2014).
