Re: How will SMU finish?
I'm hoping we can beat Memphis, USF, ECU and win at least one game against Houston, WSU and Cincy to finish the regular season 4-4 from here on out. Anything better than that would be a heck of an accomplishment for this team.

If Shake is back next game I say 5-3. My guess win (Mem, @ECU, UH, @USF) and win 1 of 4 (@UH, @UCF, UC, and WSU).
6-2 is possible, but with how inconsistent we have been its as likely as 4-4.
Without Shake 3-5. Maybe 2-6.

4-4 at best. Unless something crazy happens and we win the AAC tourney (or go 8-0 here) we are lucky to be in the NIT. It's gotten that bad quite honestly (losing to UConn and Tulsa to go with Tulane is just really bad).

Re: How will SMU finish?
It's going to be sad if they put Zona, USC, WSU on the board for committee and they show, "Bad Losses: SMU". I don't think it will happen but it's possible if we keep losing. I'm still hoping for 5-3 rest of the way. I think 11 losses will keep us out of the tournament but will get us in the NIT. I just do not see us having a chance against Cougar High. While they blew it, they went into Cincy and had a 17 point lead, that's crazy. While they blew that lead and the game, they were competitive. We had Foster then and the whole team and got pummelled. My 5-3 assumes we lose to Cincy @ home but miracle do happen and maybe the crowd will carry this team to a W there. If they do that then we would be at 2 losses which I assumed UCF and Houston wouldn't be possible. I truly didn't think us beating WSU was a fluke. While Shake shot impressively, the whole team looked to be playing at their best. I expect the same when they come to Moody in front of a sell-out crowd. Look at me, the sunshiner now.
I'll say this, while it's a step back, going to the NIT might be best for the team especially if we get home court advantage. The newbies can get post-season experience in a "safe environment" and can look really good if they win it all for momentum into next year.

Here is a preview of our next few games if shake does not play...
(I would have a lot more faith if we were not playing the the top teams)

In no circumstance, EVER, is it best to go NIT instead of NCAA. Re: How will SMU finish?
As far as I am concerned, the most fun our fans have had in the past several years
is the fantastic experience of winning 3 NIT games in Moody and 1 NIT game at
MSG and should have been 1 more for the NIT champtionship in MSG.
Moody Magic was amazing. The crowds were ecstatic. Also helped to grow the team
for the following year.
I'd be happy for us to go NIT this year but even that is a question mark. I'm pulling
for the Mustangs to play hard and get us there. I'd even take the miracle idea of us
winning the AAC tourney to put us in the NCAA but given the pessimism of the moment,
I don't see that happening. Looks like Cincinatti all the way.

Re: How will SMU finish?
a lot more than 6 people were wrong. The 2 who said 0-8 just might be the winners before all is said and done. I think this coming Wednesday at ECU will determine whether those who predicted 2-6 might be right.

Re: How will SMU finish?
I have gone from NCAA hopeful, to 20 wins and NIT hopeful, to 500 record hopeful.
Still will go to all of the remaining games while I still have my tickets. Will increase my donation and see where I sit next year. Maybe make a few new friends!
Here's to hoping the stock market and real estate markets keep going.
