Make Our Uniforms Great Again.

First of all, yes my main concerns are recruiting, and winning, but I also
care about our uniforms, and if you don't care about our uniforms, then
you should not respond to this post.

1. No more black, or grey uniforms.

2 no more numbers on the side of the helmets, Mustang on both sides only.

3 white helmets most of the time, but if a red helmet, solid blue mustang, and blue helmet, then
a solid red mustang.

4. blue jersey for our main uniform, but red for when we play the frogs.

I hope Sonny goes back to our more traditional uniforms, which is the best marketing tool we have. The white helmet with the red Mustang on on both sides, is SMU's most readily recognizable brand. A different uniform combination for every game, was a bit much last year.

When are people going to figure out that this is a recruiting issue?

Yep, the 80's SMU uniforms were incredibly classy. They looked great. All time great. Not denying any of that. "Classy" doesn't sell in the 2010's. "Flashy" does. Black. Chrome. What looks good on TV?

Hint: red on blue and blue on red do not show on TV at all. Not in any sport.

Ah, here we are - no football, no basketball, back to our old go to discussion items. Today it's uniforms.

Well, as much as we have our opinions and would like to see the uniforms we remember from the "Glory Days" (probably every generation feels that way), it will be the people that actually wear them that have the most influence. We need our Brad Hamiltons.

When they wear a red helmet, it should be a white mustang, the way it was initially.

PS Sonny said that we would not be changing uniforms. He basically said we would consistently wear the Pony Express uniforms.

Recruiting issue???: Tell that to Penn State, Michigan, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Alabama, ND, Oklahoma, USC, UCLA, Stanford, Florida State, VA Tech among others. Yes, I like the traditional and hate guessing who is playing when I tune on the TV and spend time trying to guess who is dressed in those hideous uniforms and helmets. Our color combinations and terrible helmets last year were absolutely terrible for some games. If we cannot recruit a kid based on tradition and class then it is time to move on.

We are not seen as a traditional powerhouse by today's recruits so you can't compare SMU football to USC, Oklahoma, etc. Additionally, Michigan, Florida, Notre Dame, Stanford, and Virginia Tech have tinkered with their uniforms. I am not a fan of the all black or the all anthracite, but if they sporadically want to wear all blue or all red I am ok with that. I prefer to keep the tricked out uniforms to a one off event and not every week though.
