Sad News re: Dr. Rick

Post by PonyTime »

Cox professor and passionate Mustang Fan unexpectedly passed away this past weekend. He cared deeply about SMU and making SMU a better place (see his recent comments in the Plano Campus thread below). He served on University Athletic committees at SMU and was an advocate for the Student Athletes.

IMO - We could use quite a few more faculty at SMU like Dr. Rick.

A quick quote, which I agree 100% with, from one of his previous posts:

dr. rick wrote:
Sorry to double post.. One other thing... While college is about training minds, the experience of college is more than simply about education. Athletics and other activities (e.g., plays, internships, ...) also contribute to developing our young minds. Kids do select colleges based upon the experience, which is why spirit and football are so important. Go Ponys. :D

Very sad news indeed. Yes, at 58, he was too young, plus he was preceded in death by two brothers.

Condolences to his family.
