National title aspirations help...even if misguided. What is our “Mission Accomplished” again? 6-wins?

You know, I keep thinking that this is a ground zero rebuild. It's not: We were a bowl team last year. I expect about 5 wins this coming season. More would not shock me.

After the bowl game last year, it looked like a ground zero rebuild...
5 games is the minimum. Too early for the prediction thread....has to be June 1, in honor of the Tiki.

3-5K is a solid number. Guessing UT will have more than 48K this Saturday. Tom is shaming the fans to show up and support.

Getting to 32K would be a good start.

proving your not familiar with what a ground zero rebuild is. Top returning starters from the most prolific Offense in SMU History including 2 1,000 season rushers and a 3rd Junior RB with 1200+ career yards already QB who likely will breaking every SMU passing record by mid-way through Junior year. A Junior WR who averaged 20+ ypc last year and has as many receptions after second year as just about any Junior in SMU history We probably have close to as many returning starters (or at least significant part-time starters) on both Offense and Defense as most SMU teams since the DP despite an extremely small Senior class--meaning we've been redshirting and developing the roster. We've got high numbers of experienced lettermen on Offense and Defense and Sonny has decided to continue to sprinkle in more mature JUCOs/transfers. Why would he do that if this was a total rebuild-no one does that. You rebuild with youth on rebuilds and sprinkle mature teams with transfers This is nothing like a ground zero rebuild-we won 7 games and went to a bowl not like when Gregg, Rossley, (Cavan inherited a 5 win team), Bennett, June and Morris came in with an empty cupboard. We were in the ballgame with Top 10 and Top 15 teams into the 4th Q last year and even later with UCF

Agreed, I’d say this is the most talented and experienced roster SMU has had in a while. Chad evaluated well and Sonny is filling in the thin positions with JUCOs/ transfers.

Great point. We totally hung with some good teams last season until the games got out of hand, and in the case of games like UCF they didn't get out of hand. Looking forward to a big fall and being able to listen to interviews with the HC and not feeling like I need a shower.

Wow, that's some amazing rebuild info. Sounds like 9 wins at least. So what's the win total 'prediction' from the guru whose predictions are never wrong?

Uhh, Counselor, my post was made with tongue firmly planted in cheek after the "Frisco fiasco"...this is indeed nothing like the rebuilds of the past regimes.
But it sure looked like it in the 4rth quarter of that game...

Now you're starting to get it 1. Predicted before Morris' first year SMU would go bowling in 3rd year-and not before 2. Predicted in preseason SMU would win 7 games (and that I would pick 6 wins over 8 wins if they didn't) 3. Predicted all 12 regular season games correctly last year

^^^^^
So what's the prediction for this year? None of your normal long winded, non-answer BS. Just a single number for the win total, without a bunch of qualifiers.
Come on genius, we're all waiting.
