Re: Sonny Dykes interview on the radioThank you for that. I am really buying into Dykes. I know he is still in the honeymoon period, but he is the very first coach since Ron Meyer that has sounded like he was happy to be here.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Sonny Dykes interview on the radioHard to not like this guy. Really hope he is our guy for a long, long time and is finally the guy that can bring SMU football back to national relevance. He's just so "real" compared to all who have come before him...dating back to Forest Gregg in my opinion.
Re: Sonny Dykes interview on the radioGregg and Rossley were real. I thought Cavan and Bennet liked it here for a while. We should have done more as a university to support them.

Re: Sonny Dykes interview on the radioPoints taken from listening to Sonny. The past has seen some improvement. We now have facilities that are competitive. We need stability and it sounds like Sonny want to be that person that stays around and really build some history. Lots of people know Sonny, as he has a body of work that is respected.

Re: Sonny Dykes interview on the radiokingsbury is out at tt if they don't do something this year. makes me a little anxious.
Re: Sonny Dykes interview on the radio
Tech fans I know say they are eyeing coach at UNT
Re: Sonny Dykes interview on the radio
we should be safe...i really like Sonny...great interview but it's likely to be a challenging year his first season so if Tech fires pretty boy....I doubt they would hire a 500 or even sub 500 Sonny lets hope TT fires pretty boy this year b4 Sonny has time to over-come the mess Chad left us in C-ya @ Milos!
Re: Sonny Dykes interview on the radioChad didn't leave us in a mess. Had he stayed, we'd be looking at bowls four out of the next five years. (The problem was how he left).
Re: Sonny Dykes interview on the radio
I highly doubt a P5 would hire a coach who is below .500 at their current school. Shake It Off Moody
Re: Sonny Dykes interview on the radio
we can discuss this in Novemeber and Chad's "great recruits" and "great" defense he left us! i hope we are really good this Fall....love to see 6 wins, 7 wins, 8 wins but you cant have it both ways.... if we suck this Fall you cant also say Chad left us loaded. so I guess we'll see how much of a mess Chad left us in wont we? Re: Sonny Dykes interview on the radio
agree! C-ya @ Milos!
Re: Sonny Dykes interview on the radioour d last year was simply the worst I have ever seen it. just plain awful.
Re: Sonny Dykes interview on the radioI suppose to some people only the W/L record matters in comparing coaches. Schedule is not a factor? If we have a losing record because we lose close games against TCU, Michigan, Houston, UCF, Memphis and god forbid even lose to someone like Navy or Cincy at home or even worse, to UNT or Tulane or another conference foe on the road, that will mean Chad left the cupboard bare? If we are not competitive and go 4-8 or worse, we can re-visit this argument and be more objective about whether there is any talent on the roster. After listening to this interview, at least Sonny acknowledges he is coming into a better situation than his predecessors and my interpretation of that is that Morris & his staff were able to upgrade the roster somewhat from the team they inherited from JJ.
As for the Texas Tech coaching comments, I agree UNT coach might be a good candidate and easy to hire away from Denton if that's the direction Tech wants to go.
Re: Sonny Dykes interview on the radio
I'm not saying he left us loaded. I'm certainly not saying I prefer him over Dykes. I'm saying he took us to a bowl and all indications were that he overcame the true bare cabinet that he predecessor left us. There's no reason to believe he wouldn't have been able to maintain that success.
