Actually I recall he kicked th UT guy in the you know what. Lacy Gregg later said that was the kind of thing you do in the pileup, not on the open field for all to see. It was beautiful!

Actually I believe he did it with his fist as they were to close together to get a kick in. Luckily the guy wasn't wearing a cup. He well deserved it that's for sure.

I stand corrected. You’re right. It was an upper cut with his fist. Well deserved as the TU guy was being a bully.

The recipient of Rea's punch was Stan Thomas, an offensive lineman who ended up getting drafted in the first round of the 1991 draft. I interviewed him after that game — a good two or three hours after Rea dropped him — and he still was so angry I was scared to ask him too much.
