https://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.c ... h-power-6/“I don’t know how the first five years of our conference could have gone any better, with across-the-board success, particularly in football,” White said. “Whether you look at television ratings, competitive success, New Year’s Day bowl wins, we’ve way outperformed.
“I think our current deal is way undervalued, and everybody understands that. We’re all really confident we’ll get a much more significant television deal that puts us on par with where we should be, with the Power 6 conferences.”
I hope he's right. Would be nice to have some more money.

with attendance figures more important than on the field performance, I'd be surprised if the AAC can pull anything close to what the P5 schools are getting, especially with some of the over-inflated current deals

Ratings are way more important than attendance. If the ratings have outperformed expectations, and the on-field quality is certainly better than expectations, then you would expect quite a big bump. I agree that most of the current deals are too big, and with ESPN struggling and on-line content starting to dominate, it is probably unrealistic to expect something along the lines of the P5, but it is reasonable to expect something that puts us close to the P5 and significantly distances away from the other conferences.

Exactly. The American has proven to provide great entertainment value. With the change in viewing habits we will definitely see the $$$ changes form a Power Six in the coming decade. We are so fortunate to be in The American!!!!!

will admit I haven't seen AAC ratings vs P5 but generally attendance reflects interest and correlates to ratings. Programs like ours and the other small private schools are not helping the AAC. Hopefully that can change.

If SMU football could start winning 10 games a year consistently they could create their own revenue and wouldn't have to worry about getting on the government cheese

I like the optimism in Orlando, but I'm not sure I buy it
Take the heavyweights (Alabama, Florida State, Ohio state, Oklahoma, etc.) Out of it. In a restaurant or airport bar, a casual fan will check out at least part of a South Carolina-Kentucky game, or any Arizona-Oregon State game. I would love to be wrong but i can't imagine anyone stopping to get an update on the Tulsa-Temple showdown.

We'd be lucky to get 10% of the P5 money

If you're not going to make it without consistently winning 10 games, you may be in trouble. And that's not a shot at SMU. How many G5 schools consistently win 10 games? The only one that has come close is Boise and even they've had 2 single digit win teams in the last 5 years
