Good point. Without a few early turnovers we probably win the bowl game too.
Also, if that Full Tilt Boogie defense... hadn't given up 42 points to La Tech in the 1st half, we would have been in there until the final gun.

That first half was the definition of getting Tecmo Bowl'd. Hell that's what they should have named it.

Two touchdowns came off pick sixes.

Defense will have to be much improved to have any chance at a winning record.

Yeah. Thanks.
I've heard anywhere from 2-10 to 4-8. [This comment has been censored by the censor].

Christ, some of ya'll are acting like it's all over and we haven't played down one yet.
Our QB may be the second best in the conference, behind a legitimate Heisman candidate. Our O-line is above average - if thin - we have a stable full of RB's, a proven WR target and two proven offensive minds to bring it all together.
On defense we return eight starters, lose everyone's favorite DC to hate, Malone, and may have an answer to our biggest defensive problem in five years in an A&M transfer, whose been with the team for a year now. Even our special teams should be improved with the ND transfer.
Our biggest problem is the difficult schedule, which would have been considered an opportunity if Quinn and/or Sutton had returned.
Everyone chill out.

I also agree with Leopold. I think there are several significant changes that might have a huge impact on the season; particularly the new coach and staff. Generally, new coaches have a negative effect. However, it seems Sonny is changing the atmosphere around SMU football. And, I still think Chad brought some horses to the program. How bad do they want to win in this new environment? I, like others on this board, think our defense will be the biggest question mark. Will new defensive coaches bring out the best in our guys? I'm hoping for a better season than 4-8. Nonetheless, I'm ready and looking forward to Coach Dykes leading the team.

Simply put, if Sonny can lead this team to a 7-5 1st season, there are a lot of doubters who are going to have to admit that maybe this was a good hire after all. Go 4-8 and they will say we never should have let Chad get away.

I believe Coach S.D. can have a winning season, but it will be tough with all the holes Hogman left for him to fix.

CP, who cares what they have to say? You cannot judge any new coach fairly until he's had a chance to get at least a couple three seasons under him. All I know is recruiting has been outstanding -- as will be the brats, beer, and sights on the Boulevard in a few weeks. This is supposed to be FUN. I'm ready for some college football and the first cool front.

FWIW, the receiver Chad flipped from us to UA, Michael Woods, was arrested yesterday for DWI.
