Phil Bennett: No coach cover upAt Baylor, he asserts that no coach covered up the sexual assault. For the little I know him, he seemed a man with integrity. So odd that to think that coaches had not a whiff of problems. What say you?
Re: Phil Bennett: No coach cover upLock him up... Lock him up... Lock him up...

Re: Phil Bennett: No coach cover upI interviewed a girl with a degree from Baylor last week and the whole time all I could think about was how much she probably "helped" the football team.
What a disaster down there. No way the coaches didn't know. I mean come on. I am surprised they even get a single female applicant anymore. An object at rest cannot be stopped!
Re: Phil Bennett: No coach cover upYou have a head coach, 10 assistant coaches, a strength coach, 2-3 assistant strength coaches, academic tutors, recruiting coordinators - all tasked with “making boys into men / better football players”- and no one knows these guys are running wild on campus? Please....
Briles and company turned a blind eye because it was good for recruiting that these guys could “ have fun” and “ enjoy college”. Believe me - they knew the kind of kid they were recruiting and how they behaved on campus. The OU’s and Texas’s of the world have a long line of kids that want to go to their schools. Baylor not so much so they had to cut corners and it caught up with them. Pony 81
Re: Phil Bennett: No coach cover upNot to rain on your righteous indignation but who cares? I'll take BU's administration over smoos any day. It righted the ship and is moving on. BU will be just fine while smoo continues with its 30+ year pity party.
Re: Phil Bennett: No coach cover upI would be inclined to believe him, but I remember reading that after Briles heard about one of the incidents he said “why was she with them? Those are some bad dudes”
Re: Phil Bennett: No coach cover upPhil did have a great reputation. But, at the least he turned a blind eye to the situation. As Defensive Coordinator these were his players. The money was good, he was making twice the amount as a coordinator than as head coach at SMU. He felt fortunate to land on his feet after SMU. In simple terms, money corrupts.
Re: Phil Bennett: No coach cover up
Got to admit, I disagree. As much I am not happy that the SMU administration was athletics hostile for at least a quarter century, I'd rather be known as the school who paid players (when everyone knows everyone was doing it) than the rape factory in Waco, or the school that attempts to cover up the murder of their basketball players. Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.
Re: Phil Bennett: No coach cover upI believe he is referring to Baylor's post scandal administration...the one quickly getting Baylor University and also their football program off the mat, instead of making excuses for the next 30 years.
Re: Phil Bennett: No coach cover upPhil Bennett is lying his [deleted] off. Phil Bennett knew that he was recruiting low character football players with criminal records and backgrounds. Several of these players had multiple criminal incidents-which were a matter of public record- in their past at other schools and at Baylor and still were allowed to play. Baylor received reports from some player' past coaches when they attempted to transfer. Baylor recruited known thugs and allowed them to continue playing despite criminal incidents both in the past and at Baylor and it came back to bite them in the [deleted].
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
