Men's basketball adds CJ. White
From SMUMustangs.com:
Prep: Was a guard at Parkview High School for Coach Alfred Flanigan… As a senior, he helped lead Parkview HS to the 5A State Championship, earning State Tournament MVP and First Team All-State honors… Averaged 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.0 steals while hitting 40 percent from 3-point range during his final prep season.

“We’re excited that CJ will be joining our program this year. He is a versatile and talented player as well as a proven winner. We think he has a bright future at SMU.”┬á– SMU Head Coach Tim Jankovich

Not sure the best place to post this.
Who will play the point if Whitt needs a rest? Dixon? White?
Or is there someone else as yet unannounced?

landrum is gone, i assume it will be primarily Dixon, with white to help out when needed.

I was waiting for someone else to post a note like the one quoted - the departure of Landrum was mentioned / confirmed almost a month ago on the last page of the SIX PLAYERS thread below. At that time coach was still talking about bringing in a PG but evidently that did not work out.
So Dixon mostly. And I hope there is future help in the next class.

This young man's father is a personal trainer and due to connections CJ has been able to work with former players like Corliss Williamson. He may bring more BB knowledge then the usual HS player.

Still a little confused on his lack of attention received. Certainly appears to be a good pick up to me.

I concur. Seems like a blue light special here. Guys like White and Jahmar Young may take a more time than the higher rated guys but you can afford to develop a few with a full complement of scholarships.mrydel wrote:Still a little confused on his lack of attention received. I believe that Young is still red-shirting even though he claimed the last 2018 free ride. But both he and CJ get to bang in practice daily, which benefits everyone.
