Ponies Go Bowling at 6-6Overall it looks like another tough schedule for the 2018 Ponies. So, with the addition of an outstanding fired up new coaching staff, I see us going 6-6 and to another bowl.
Your thoughts, Go Ponies! DeanO~
Re: Ponies Go Bowling at 6-6As has been said by many, if we upset NTU, then we should go 6-6, or better. Lose and it could be a long year.
Re: Ponies Go Bowling at 6-6Considering the questions that have yet to be answered (WR, DL, LB, OL), I'd call 6-6 a solid debut for Sonny Dykes.
Re: Ponies Go Bowling at 6-6Sounds about right to me. It would be nice to get above .500 and go bowling.
Re: Ponies Go Bowling at 6-6I’m worried about the OL and WR, but I think SMU gets to 6 wins.
Re: Ponies Go Bowling at 6-6A 6 win season is a best case scenario. New coaching staff, many new players, inexperience, tough non-conference schedule and real depth issues. Season can go many directions and most are against SMU.
Re: Ponies Go Bowling at 6-6
Underdog to NTU after 3 years of Morris the Great. Who woulda thunk!
Re: Ponies Go Bowling at 6-6
The used car salesman made some improvements on offense no question about that, but when he was hired on December 1st 2014, this is hardly the program that we were promised.
Re: Ponies Go Bowling at 6-6
I'm still not sure I understand this take... WR - we lost two greats, and will take a step back. I get that. DL - Lawler was an above average conference player. But we have a lot of other players here who well regarded recruits who should be coming into their own and had PT last year. And a transfer to boost as well. And an adequate weight program. I don't think we will see the productivity of this group drop. If anything, it will be deeper and more consistent. LB - This group was awful last year. Worst in conference. Plug in a guy who started at A&M, an instant starter from a JUCO, and a bunch of players growing up. This unit should be better by a mile than it was. OL - We lost Evan Brown, a great center. But everyone else returns, we get two JUCOs pushing for starting spots, and have a bunch of highly regarded recruits who should be hitting maturity. Pursley was undersized and awful until his redshirt sophmore season. That is the age a lot of these guys are hitting now. The OL should be better than it was last season, not worse. It isn't an area of concern. RB is going to be great. QB will be better with maturity. secondary will be better with better depth. I understand that WR is an important part of the team, but I don't understand the thought that the quality of this team will go backwards, unless you really have zero faith in any of the CM recruiting capabilities.
Re: Ponies Go Bowling at 6-6Proche is going to be all conference

ME................and to make matters worse, he won't honor the warranty on that used car I bought from him !! ![]() ![]()
Re: Ponies Go Bowling at 6-6Being an underdog to NTU doesn't surprise me. They have the #1 QB in the state according to DCTF and a good coach who has recruited well. They do not lose much on offense. Their problem is defense. If Kane can improve our guys enough, then we might out-score them. In addition, we will have to get the running game purring to keep the ball in our hands. We have a new coach/system so it may take a game or two to get it well installed. Plus they are at home and motivated. Their Super Bowl???
Re: Ponies Go Bowling at 6-6
It doesn't surprise me that there are always "valid reasons" why we suck and need to just wait a year or two! C-ya @ Milos!
Re: Ponies Go Bowling at 6-6Of Course we go Bowling …. or not. Like the new Willie Nelson song... Or maybe SMU do.
Just a feeling that we beat unt and Dykes is good... Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
