Isiaha Mike, Jimmy Whitt To Join USA East Coast For A Trip To Italy Tour Begins in Venice on August 3; Team Will Play Four Games
DALLAS (SMU) – Jimmy Whitt and Isiaha Mike will join USA East Coast for a basketball trip to Italy. The tour begins in Venice on Aug. 3, and features four games before returning to New York on August 9. Whitt is entering his junior season after starting all 33 games last season. He earned two American Athletic Conference weekly honors while averaging 10.5 points, 5.2 rebounds (17th AAC), 3.5 assists (8th AAC) and 1.8 steals (3rd AAC). He also shot 48.8 percent (14th AAC) with a 2.1 assist-to-turnover ratio (3rd AAC). Mike will be a sophomore after sitting out last season as a transfer. Before the 2017-18 season, he averaged 6.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.7 assists during the Mustangs' 3-game exhibition tour in Montreal and Toronto. As a freshman at Duquesne in 2016-17, he was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team after averaging 11.3 points, 5.8 rebounds (15th A-10) and 1.6 assists. DALLAS (SMU) – Ethan Chargois, William Douglas and Feron Hunt were selected by the Global Sports Academy for the 2018 European Select Team Goodwill Tour Aug. 11-17. The tip includes six games and stops in Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. Chargois was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team after averaging 9.1 points and 4.4 rebounds. Douglas played all 33 games as a freshman. Hunt is a freshman from DeSoto High School. Global Sports Academy (GSA) is a not-for-profit organization participating in domestic and international competition since 1991. GSA's mission is to arrange athletic competition between equally matched teams at all levels and to "Promote International Goodwill" and a better understanding between nations through sports. Isiaha Mike and Jimmy Whitt are also on a European trip, playing four games in Italy with USA East Coast from Aug. 3-9.

Didn't see the game(s), but Whitt's apparently fixed the shot mechanics.

I will have to see it to believe it. Having said that, despite his awkward shot, Whitt hit 49% of his FGs last season and was a very effective mid-range shooter. Mechanics hurt him from the FT line and he just didn't have the 3 point range you would like from your PG in today's game, but he made good decisions as evidenced by his 2:1 assist:turnover ratio and he lead the team in steals while averaging over 5 boards per game. I expect him to be a solid player for us this year as he was last year.
