At least it brings more people than SMU vs UCF in an ice storm does
(For those that weren’t there, maybe 600?)

We report tickets distributed (like every other FBS school).

Re: Bring Back the Mayors Cup
Yep, I’m wrong: Confirmed it was 14K tickets sold. While we were 6-5 going into that game and it was against a traditional conference rival, we had lost four of our previous five, it was an 11am start, and it was a bad weather day.
I’d still prefer Rice over James Madison or HBU.

Re: Bring Back the Mayors Cup
how did you confirm that-SMU has never disclosed tickets sold

We should play Rice every year. Small, private academics-first schools with a long history. Winnable but not guaranteed wins, and a hell of a lot more interest than FCS schools.

But, since leaving the SWC (left behind) don't they have a winning record against us?

The 14K number in the pdf someone posted above matches the attendance figure in the ESPN box score for the gameStallion wrote:how did you confirm that-SMU has never disclosed tickets sold

I'd rather bring back the series against Arkansas, especially now that they have Morris. Good crowds and fun to beat them. Still remember that Shreveport game with Ramon if memory serves, when we beat them by 3 TDs.

Very good points.....I totally agree ! Plus , it would give us another away game within driving distance.

Re: Bring Back the Mayors Cup
I agree 100%. It was always fun knowing we had a Houston away trip every season to hang out with the SMU alums in Houston. Great for recruiting too. I also enjoyed the slapstick performances of the original "MOB" and post-game back and forth between them and our band. There is a Mayor's Cup trophy somewhere that needs to be dusted off and brought back!ponypatrick wrote:Ikus wrote:We should play Rice every year. We could not stop their backup QB.
And that was a game I had us down as a for sure "W"
