Sorry about the smiley face that snuck in. Next year's record in my scenario is the same as this year, 12 - 15. Proceed Mr. AD........

FriarWolf,

I think it is misleading to use SMU's W-L record over the past few year as a barometer as it shows us as a .500 team.

Take out opponents ranked below 200 and then show our W-L record. As posted before, it is quite revealing.

Look at this seasn. We are only one game below .500. Look closer and you will see we have not defeated a team with a current RPI ranking above 200.

Let's just hope the new AD has a better perspective and can somehow shake things up with *the model* and whoever is in charge of admitting student-athletes.

Unless we get some Juco help or a couple of studs soon, we aren't looking at postseason for a long while. (with what we know at this point) - NCAA in 2009/2010? - 2011? seriously when? NIT?

In conclusion, I think we are all fed up!

This is the dumbest thread ever. Anybody who cannot see SMU is better off with Tubbs at the helm than Dement is being willfully blind.

Tubbs has NOTHING to do with the positives or the negatives of nearly 3 years worth of recuiting which forms our upperclasses right now. I guess if thats sugarcoating, so be it.

Not last few years HF, last 2 years ...so the starters you are dogging from Dement's final season were recruited during the Tubbs years.

Listen that is a nit...my over-riding point here is this team stinks...really stinks...and it's not going to get materially better with the current players on this roster, nor will it get any better with the player Tubbs has recruited thus far this year. So our future at this point in time does not look good at all.

I think there is a problem here when respected posters like yourself won't acknowledge the train wreck called SMU Athletics. That is why I respect Stallion so much. I respect you too...I just want you to criticize SMU more....one again, it is just my opinion.

But what isn't my opinion is that we are ranked 285....and that ain't average

SoCal, you are correct that this is a train wreck. It is amazing that people will not acknowledge it. It is like people take this personally rather than looking at it objectively. It is o.k. to criticize the direction of this program. We need to criticize this program. We need to be told that this school is listening or even cares. Hell, I would be o.k. with the administration saying we are just going to concentrate on graduating athletes and running an ivy league type of program. At least then I could quit pinning my hopes on the next coach, next AD, or next recruiting class. The joke may be on us for buying into the Committment. We are in serious danger of being totally irrelevant (athletically) in this community much less nationally.

I'll give you this--you're every bit as consistent bashing Tubbs as Iam defending him. You've got that going for you.

I love how you guys always claim that "anyone who can not see that we are better off under Coach B than we were after Coach A was fired are willfully blind". And yet Coach B never reaches the level at which Coach A had the program. OPEN YOUR EYES-this is simply a merry-go-round of repeated failure. Of course, a failed coaching regime under a failed model is going to lose steam after years of failure. Tell us something we don't know. What we do know is that SMU's most successful teams came under Cavan and Dement under even more difficult circumstances. Here comes the merry-go-round again-its coming round the corner to let Moron B off and Genius C on.

Well put Stallion.

BTW, over the past 2 years we have won 26 BB games.

4 of those victories came against teams with an average RPI ranking of 163.
2 of those victories came against non-Div 1 ranked schools, so they didn't even earn a ranking.
And 20 of our victories came against schools with an average RPI of 275.

Look up the currently ranked 275th team in the country. That would be Columbia, who is in last place in the Ivy league.

Yep, things are really looking up at the Hilltop!!!!!!!!!
