Beaver definitely nailed it with this guy.

What you do as a QB commit is what Will Brown did. Admittedly he didn't seem to have nearly the offers but he stuck with it through a coaching change never once hesitating ("I'm committing to the school not a coach"), enrolled early, got here and worked his [deleted] off and has shown nothing but maturity and confidence/take charge attitude. Now, he may end up sucking on the field (doubtful), but I'd rather have a roster full of guys like that.

so...which was it? The lure of the triangle or wanting/needing to be "the man"? I assume he ends up at some FCS program where he can be the big man on campus, assuming he's no longer with the H.S. girlfriend.
