Yeah, and again, I'm sure you've researched this point, but the generations of college-aged students from the 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's are all very different. Plus you have to take into account all the college students (and athletes, I think Doak was in this situation) that went to the military and THEN went to college after WWII. So many different factors to look at...wasn't over half of the 1948 SMU team married? That alone shows the age and priorities of college athletes in that era.
