we started 5 offensive lineman who each have substantial Division 1A starting experience and collectively have 73 starts at the Division 1A level.
Actually started 19 players who have started games at Division 1A level although Biggurs and Beckner have only started 1-2 games before. Proche and others listed below were not listed as starters Saturday Nite but this is not an inexperienced team with at least 23 very experienced Division 1A starters. Not sure we have ever had that many
Others with starting experience who apparently didn't start
Demerick Gary Mikial Onu Jordan Williams Xavier Jones Bryce Wilds (not listed in Participation Chart)

Howerton is a true sophomore and Todora is a redshirt sophomore, and each has 6 starts. Not sure I'd call that "substantial Division 1A starting experience" and I know they have been working hard with Coach Kaz, but Howerton doesn't look like his listed 290. And Hughes is a big guy with experience, but not with this line, line play requires chemistry/timing. All that said, not a good night. Obviously need to be better.

The left side of the line, is anchored by two June Jones recruits, Chad Pursley and Nick Natour.

unt brought the heat as if they suspected our line may not be prepared due to the coaching absence Obviously we weren’t very ready up front and it showed. Hard to swallow after we had controlled the games with unt the last 3 years. Gotta pull it together and get the offense on track.

Chad Morris’ recruiting of the OL and defense during his three years here bordered on professional malpractice. Not making any excuses for Sonny and the staff, though—they were thoroughly outschemed

The horrible line play throughout the night was the biggest takeaway for me watching the game on TV. I saw missed blocks, no movement on run plays, missed assignments on blitzes. Not sure if it is missing the position coach that is hurting, wrong personnel in, new personnel not gelling or more than likely a combination of all 3.
Either way Coach SD has to get this fixed otherwise the next 2 weeks are going to be more than ugly.

Wilds played when Pursley had his helmet ripped off in the fourth quarter.

I was watching on my phone in the airport, but from what I saw Natour had a really rough game. And Hughes is not that agile. They would run a stunt, the RG wouldn't switch, and Hughes couldn't get around to the inside quick enough and Hicks got killed.
