Re: Ben(ch) Hicks
yes but he came here from tea=sip u. not a 'real recruit' out of h.s. for our program. agree that he was better than most of the others we have had recently.

Better than most? Gilbert was a hero once he got his mind right. He was fast, smart, and had a cannon. He was so far ahead of anything we've seen here in a long time it's not even funny

Re: Ben(ch) Hicks
Obviously many are forgetting his very unremarkable Junior Year
15 TDs
15 Interceptions
5.8 yards per pass attempt
53% Pass Completion Percentage
No. 94 QB Rating in the Country
http://www.espn.com/ncf/qbr/_/year/2012/page/2
in CUSA
complete revisionist history-many were trying to run him out of town especially when SMU was 5-6 coming into final game of the regular season

I guess it’s all relative. Know who has a qbr of 1.1 this year ranking 128th of 128?

Re: Ben(ch) Hicks
More disconcerting than Hicks:
1) the play of the OL, which should be better than last year and was awful.
2)As much movement and misdirection and everything with Morris' offense, it was a very well coached offensive team. You didn't find receivers lining up incorrectly or wrong routes being run or anything that that. Those mistakes were very consistent on Saturday.
The second play of the game was a great example. Tried to do an end-around. Natour got blown up and the snap wasn't timed correctly with the motion. It was a disaster all the way around, no chance for success.
There was so much going wrong, I don't think you can even get around to evaluating Hicks, unless he was screwing up the play calls.

That was a jet sweep with Reggie Roberson. The play was blown dead, because RT Larry Hughes jumped and was called illegal prcedure.

Re: Ben(ch) Hicks
Yes, but even if he hadn't been called, the left side of our line crumbled and met Hicks and Roberson in the backfield at the handoff. It wasn't Hughes' man who got back there.
Re: Ben(ch) Hicks
The Offense was a disaster led by the O-Line, followed secondly by play calling, followed third by Hicks/Receivers joint effort to get open and hit them when they were open. Better be a lot of improvement this week or we will have negative yards at half time and possibly the end of the game.
