Sonny fails initial test

Re: Sonny fails initial test
Sonny is into 'fail fast' philosophy.
Re: Sonny fails initial test
Sonny didn't have a targeting penalty on 3rd and 25 that changed momentum and lead to the first score. Sonny also didn't throw a pass that a 3rd year starter should have known not to throw resulting in a pick six putting us down 2 scores in a short amount of time.
Re: Sonny fails initial test
Unless the dude who got ejected was '85 Mike Singletary in disguise it wouldn't have made any difference.
Re: Sonny fails initial test
Yeah I was thinking we would have won by 20+ without that targeting penalty

An object at rest cannot be stopped!
Re: Sonny fails initial test
Those 2 plays were a huge momentum shift - it was uphill from there - UNT was playing with confidence, we were trying to come from behind.

We had an offense living in Dec-17. NTCC isn’t and hasn’t been. We just truly sucked as if nothing had changed from December other than payroll expense has increased.

Re: Sonny fails initial test
When your OL has almost everyone back, was decent last year, and gets beat that badly, that is a coaching problem - the kids weren't prepared to play.
When your team constantly runs the wrong route and lines up incorrectly, that is a coaching problem - the kids weren't prepared to play.
I expected to hear Sonny say "fog of war" after the game, it was that bad.
What a disappointment.

Hughes had what, two weeks in our system?
Powell being out certainly doesn't help. The guy coaching our OL hasn't worked with OL since 2015.

Re: Sonny fails initial test
Can't they bring in an interim RB coach until Powell is back?

And unfortunately, had to replace Powell with an analyst, which means he can't be on the field during games. They aren't getting the training they need to be successful.
As for Hughes, if he wasn't ready then start Wilds. Wouldn't have been worse.

Re: Sonny fails initial test
actually Sonny Dykes' longtime OLINE Coach Zach Yenser is the analyst (who can't coach on the field) and was with Dykes at LaTech and Cal before going to Kansas. SMU gets an exemption to bring a Coach in when Powell is out for an extended period. Forgot the guy's name but he was at Auburn and UCONN as a young grad/analyst coach and worked with Lashslee at both places. We do have an acting Interim OLINE coach filling Powell's position on the field. Kind of surprised Yenser wasn't chosen as in the Interim OLINE Coach since he has experience
