To me, the only surprises are at the top and bottom of the list. I'm surprised SMU brings in more than UH, especially as their attendance is better. Expected UT to be ahead ofA&M, but doubling is a surprise. Especially as the stadiums are comparably sized and the SEC pays more than the Big 12.

Where is all our money coming from? We play 6 home games to which we sell maybe 15,000 tickets. Even adding in concessions isn't getting us over $5 million in game day sales. I guess conference TV and sponsorship is worth more than I thought.

Definitely surprised we are over UH....obvious disparity between P5 and G5 as we all know. Still hoping this schism will narrow with viewership decline leading to smaller tv contracts for the P5 during the next go round of negotiations.

But the B12 has different tier rights than the sec does. B12 schools can negotiate their own 3rd tier tv. The SEC has their own network and teams are made to donate their 3rd tier rights to the network. This makes a difference. That and UT has its own network, although I'm not sure if it's a money maker or not.

Texas A&M has supplanted Texas as America's most valuable college football program.

Forbes magazine on Tuesday released its list of most valuable college football programs based on estimate averages for profits and revenue for the 2014, '15 and '16 seasons. Texas had held the top spot, drawing $100 million in revenue in 2011 and $92 million in profit alone in 2014.

A&M's rise was attributed to an increase in athletic department contributions, along with more ticket revenue and conference revenue from the Southeastern Conference.

Texas A&M brought in $148 million in revenue and made $107 million in profit, according to Forbes' estimates. Texas made $133 million in revenue and $87 million in profit, while Michigan was third at $127 million and $75 million.

Alabama and Ohio State round out the top five.

Smartest thing A&M ever did (and that is saying a lot) to get away from Texas and that network nobody watches.
