Re: GAMEDAY...
At this point I will watch the ugly end of this one just to see if anyone besides Hicks gets any snaps at QB
Re: GAMEDAY...
Lol. Comes out and throws a ball into a tcu player’s chest and he drops the pick6 yelling profanities on tv

So ya wanna play Michigan?
At Michigan?
At Michigan?
Re: GAMEDAY...
I've been on this board for a long time. At the game tonight was the first time I ever thought SMU should just give it up (and I have been to many games at ford). Drop down to FCS and focus on hoops. I know the weather sucked but it was easily 5 to 1 tcu fans and I don't blame the smu fans. If I was an SMU fan I would just be done with it. I really respect those of you who keep up the fight.
Re: GAMEDAY...
SMU gave up a long time ago. They just didn't know it.
Re: GAMEDAY...
SMU lost because TCU is bigger stronger and faster at every single position. End of discussion.

Wouldn't help either sport.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

I didn't see the final 2 minutes but I assume Brown never saw the field again.
Long live Inez Perez!
Re: GAMEDAY...
Correct. We had the ball on our ~10yd line with 1min to go and they roll out hicks who almost throws another pick 6

Re: GAMEDAY...
I understand wanting Hicks to get all the reps he can, but if Brown is planned to redshirt, since he had to go in due to Hicks losing his helmet, last night would have been a good time to put him in during the fourth quarter since one of his 4 games was already in play.

Could not agree more. Would also like to see someone get some reps in these out of control games just to be better prepared if Hicks should go down with an injury. It happens.

I have to agree. There’s no more enthusiasm around the program. June and Chad were doing everything they could to get run away from coaching here, Sonny will probably end up the same. Most fans are old. We have created hardly any new student fans in 30 years.

We don't need to drop football, and we don't need to be world beaters either to save SMU football. We just have to come to the realization every building period doesn't mean you have to play diarrhea football. And root out loser-mentality like its a weed.

Support for the program is clearly dwindling but the good news is that we are at least in a conference with schools who still care about football and are striving for inclusion at the highest level. Yes, we are at or near the bottom of the AAC, but there is still enough interest and support (evidenced by the funding of the IPC) in football for SMU to become competitive again...hopefully in my lifetime

After waiting 30 years, during which we've beaten TCU only a handful of times, I'm certainly patient enough to see whether Sonny Dykes can build on what little bit of positive momentum Chad Morris got started. For me, it depends on what happens with the AAC going forward. If we were to lose some of the larger public schools to P5 expansion, then I would agree it might be time to consider dropping down to Division I-FCS level but it would be very difficult to "focus" on basketball if we wound up in a conference like the Southland. Villanova comes to mind as a rare school that plays high level football at the FCS level and enjoys a strong hoops program, but they have the Big East going for them and that's what would make it difficult for SMU to make that transition. I don't see dropping football all together and playing hoops as an independent as an option and for now, football continues to drive the bus in conference affiliations.
It will sadden me if TCU discontinues our series because I don't see SMU wanting to abandon this rivalry, regardless of how lopsided things are right now. I assume TCU would rather play SMU than some FCS opponent, but perhaps your administration sees SMU as a more dangerous opponent than the FCS schools you like to schedule (nothing to gain but plenty to lose?) Right now, we are an easy W against a school from a pretty good football conference, not to mention a short road trip.
Long live the 1500!
