Someone told me it was at 8 AM. I wanted to go out there, but I had a hard time rising from the dead this morning. They need to schedule those later in the day....

Are they scrimmaging again next Saturday?

Yes. Next Saturday's scrimmage is at 2:00 or 2:30. BTW, I don't think they had a scrimmage today...according to the Spring Football Schedule on smumustangs.com, today was just a practice day.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Will next week's scrimmage be open to the public? In Ford or on the practice fields?

Recap on smumustangs.com said they had two blocked FGs. Looks like more of the same. Like last year, McMurtry kicks too low if he needs distance.

By the way, they scrimmage every SAT but apparently it is inside the stadium and is closed to the public.

Sorry. Went back and reread the scrimmage recap. They scrimmage next Sat at 3pm and it is open to the public. Probably Ford, but maybe at Pettus Fields.

SMU Holds First Football Scrimmage of Spring

DALLAS, TEXAS -- The SMU football team held a three-hour situational scrimmage on Saturday morning inside Gerald J. Ford Stadium. The defense dominated early but the offense had its moment later during the workout. It was the first scrimmage of the spring for the Mustangs.

The SMU defense, which returns eight starters from last fall, recorded nine sacks and forced four turnovers - two interceptions and two fumble recoveries. Both Allan Adami and Darrin Johnson had two sacks and a tackle for loss. Don Ieremia-Stansbury had a sack and a tackle for loss. Melvin Williams had an interception and a fumble recovery. Alvin Nnabuife recorded the other interception while Clay Glockzin had the other fumble recovery.

The offense looked sharp at times and scored four touchdowns during the scrimmage - two passing and two rushing. Sophomore quarterback Richard Bartel was inconsistent early but finished strong, completing 20-of-38 passes for 278 yards and two TDs. He was intercepted once. Junior Matt Rushbrook led the wide receivers with seven catches for 110 yards and two 30-yard TD catches from Bartel.
Junior Keith Williams, working with the second and third units, led the ground attack with 13 carries for 81 yards and a one-yard scoring run. Senior Keylon Kincade added an eight-yard TD run and finished with 51 yards on 16 carries. Freshman Johnnie Fitzgerald ran 13 times for 42 yards.

Chris Godfrey blocked a pair of field goal attempts. Reggie Carrington picked up the second one and returned it 50 yards for a score.

Sounds like Bartel is having a great spring--20-38 for 278 yards, with 2 TDs to Rushbrook of 30 yards each. Rushbrook is coming out of nowhere with 7 catches for 110 yards. Looks like the O is making nice strides.
