Arkansas blew an 18-point lead in the second half at Colorado State. The Hogs built that lead because they were the more talented team. They had a chance to put the game away on 4th-and-1 from the 50-yard line and holding a 10-point advantage to begin the fourth quarter. Instead, Morris opted to punt despite his running backs combining to average 6.3 yards per carry in the game. With that decision, Morris wasnΓÇÖt playing to win, he was playing not to lose and it cost the Hogs."

Without a doubt a lot of blame goes to Morris but Beilema had a history of teams with 4th quarter collapses and that is in the head of every UA player.

And in regard to the 4th and 1 (I would have gone for it), Arkansas State has a similar scenario against Tulsa. They were 4th and 1 in Tulsa territory. Chose to punt and pinned Tulsa on the 4 just as Arkansas did. Difference is where Arkansas gave up a 96 yard TD drive, ASU defense came up with a safety which provided the winning points. And ASU was averaging almost 5 yards a carry. So who is to say what the right call is?

National Championship in BB, and throw in track and field and they have more total National Championships than any other SEC team. They are just overshadowed by Alabama the last few years. They are also one of the few teams in the nation that fully supports the athletic department with athletic proceeds.

I don't know about Tennessee, Ole Miss, etc, but Vanderbilt has a much stronger last Decade than Arkansas in the SEC in the name sports:

Football
Vandy: 5 Bowls (3 wins), 0 SEC Titles
Arkansas: 6 Bowls (4 wins), 0 SEC Titles

Men's Basketball
Vandy: 7 NCAA Tournaments, 1 Sweet 16
Arkansas: 5 NCAA Tournaments, 0 Sweet 16

Baseball:
Vandy: 10 College World Series, 2 SEC Titles, 1 National Championship
Arkansas: 4 College World Series, 0 Championships

If you want to throw in some track and field National Championships for Arkansas, I will toss in a couple of Women's Bowling National Championships for Vandy. No argument that outside of beating SMU on the football field, Arkansas owned the 90s - so did Bill Clinton. But Nolan Richardson seems like such a long time ago - and don't forget that his recruits that won that championship were recruited into the Southwest Conference and not the $EC.

Sadly, Vanderbilt is more relevant than Arkansas these days in the SEC.

  Yes, I'm sure Vandy would have the exact same success if they were in the SEC West instead of the SEC East where Florida and Tennessee have been complete shells of their past glories.

mrdel you prove my point. Houston Nutt took them to 3 SEC Championships, and they ran him out of town. I can't see Chad getting them above Alabama, Auburn, LSU or Georgia in football. Good news is that Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, Ole Miss, A&M and Florida truly stink this year. Miss State is pretty good this year and Vandy and Missouri arn't bad. Chad may have moderate success, but not National Championship success demanded by Hog fans. Sad fact is that if Arkansas was in the Big XII, they probably would have dominated it and they'd still have that UT rivalry.

Arkansas would have been neck and neck with Tech had they remained.

Some schools do not care to be UTs lackey and Broyles would not allow that.

ArkansasΓÇÖ average recruiting classes would be around 3rd in the Big 12 compared to 8th-12th in the SEC.

Morris losing so badly to UNT with Arkansas players after beating them at SMU is confusing to me. Lot of issues with the culture and locker room with the roster IMO.

Also, UA has no offensive lineman. Injuries have relegated them to moving defensive lineman to offense.

"If Chad Morris were in a rational business, you wouldnΓÇÖt knock him for making every effort to watch his son Chandler, a highly-rated quarterback for Highland Park in Dallas, play high school football games. And in a rational world, nobody would connect the RazorbacksΓÇÖ first-year struggles under Morris with his determination to sneak away on a private plane for a few hours on Fridays after the real game preparation has been done and return before bed time. But this isnΓÇÖt a rational world. ItΓÇÖs college football, and you can already see the fault line in ArkansasΓÇÖ fan base forming around this issue. Everyone agrees with ΓÇ£family firstΓÇ¥ ΓÇö until you start getting beat by the likes of Colorado State and North Texas, which made the Razorbacks look silly in Fayetteville, 44-17. One may have nothing to do with the other (Chandler, in fact, played Thursday of this week instead of Friday), but thereΓÇÖs no doubt Morris has an optics problem. Morris can say his former boss Dabo Swinney did the same thing, but Morris isnΓÇÖt Swinney and Arkansas isnΓÇÖt Clemson. Moving forward, Morris would do well to remember he now works at a school where fans once used the Freedom of Information Act to procure Houston NuttΓÇÖs phone records in an attempt to embarrass him once he started losing."

Point of reference: From 1994-1997 SMU won a total of thirteen games and three of those were against Arkansas. Womack literally owned them. And they gave us Ramon for the sixth year becasue he dislocated his hip on the first play of the game in 95. And don't poo poo their success in track--there is a lot to be said for wining the triple crown multiple times.

My point exactly - they were good in the 90s, except when they had to play SMU. That game in Shreveport was the Womack show. And who could ever forget Barry Lunney Jr. fumbling away the win at the Cotton Bowl. (Same Lunney that I think some Arky fans want to see as HC in the future).

Even the undermanned SMU basketball team gave the running Hogs a good game at Moody for at least a half - until the men (Corliss Williamson) separated themselves from the boys (Matt Timme and Erion Harris).
