Ruhle's Comments

Post by Topper »

Ruhle says he came to Baylor with "eyes wide open." The Star Telegram reported that Baylor recruited Ruhle after a meeting with the NCAA that convinced them that they could tell prospective coaches that there would be no major penalties.

He did flirt with the Colts for their HC opening this offseason so maybe he knew what was coming. Doesn't sound like he wants to be there long-term.

ICYM this gem from the Waco Tribune:

Richard Willis, the former chairman of Baylor UniversityΓÇÖs board of regents, once credited the on-field success of the schoolΓÇÖs football program to ΓÇ£n----- football playersΓÇ¥ and ΓÇ£the best blond-haired, blue-eyed p----ΓÇ¥ in Texas, two alleged witnesses to the conversation stated in affidavits filed Tuesday.

Greg Klepper and Alejandro Urdaneta, two businessmen who said they were present during the meeting in the summer of 2014 in Queretaro, Mexico, signed the affidavits last month containing the allegations. The documents were submitted into federal court by lawyers representing 10 alleged sexual assault victims suing Baylor under Title IX.

A couple of other choice excerpts from that piece:

Klepper and Urdaneta both testified that Willis boasted about his power over the university and that he would fire Ken Starr as president. They said Willis repeatedly referred to StarrΓÇÖs wife, Alice, as a ΓÇ£Jew b----.ΓÇ¥ Alice Starr was raised Jewish and converted to Christianity.

Klepper said Willis made statements ΓÇ£comparing the size of his genitalia to the size of his company, although he used more crass language than that. He also discussed other matters that objectified women.ΓÇ¥

he seems nice

seems like the kind of guy a university puts on the Board of Regents to run a football program not a university-that usually works out great

Our church staff includes the mother of the former Baylor football player I have spoken about in the past.

She is a Baylor alum, and is now even more disgusted with the manner in which BU is run.

Baylor football needs a "timeout".

interesting times we live in...

Why don't we offer the big 12 an easy solution. We just trade spots with Baylor. They get a reformed not very church school vs a hypocrisy filled very church school, they upgrade academics and pick up an extra game every week in a major TV market. Also - addition by subtraction, no more Waco.

We will add a deck to accommodate the visiting team fans.

Done deal?

Willis used to run an order fulfillment company based, I think, in Richardson. The company had a lot of financial problems and it seems that they parted ways in 2016 or thereabouts. Since then he runs a company called Pharmaca which sells "natural" health and beauty supplies for people who "think out of the box." I'm not completely sure what that means, but Baylor was impressed enough with him to make him head of their governing body for four years even though two one-year terms had been the tradition up to then.

Baylor received a "notice of allegations" from the NCAA a few days ago.
