Mustangs Land Spot in Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll

PALM COAST, Fla. (SMU/Golfweek) ΓÇô The SMU men's golf team landed as No. 21 in the most recent Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll released Sept. 28, 2018.

Through two tournaments the Mustangs claimed a share of the team title at the Invitational at the Ocean Course in Kiawah, South Carolina and finished runners-up at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas, Texas.

Freshman Ollie Osborne, in his debut as a collegiate golfer, took home the 1st place medal in South Carolina after shooting three-under overall at the shortened tournament. Mac Meissner posted top-five finishes in both events, tying for 5th in South Carolina and 3rd in Texas, freshman Ben Wong finished 6th and tied for 7th in the two tournaments and Noah Goodwin tied for 7th at Trinity Forest.

SMU will take the course again Oct. 6-8 at the North Texas hosted Westheimer Invitational at the Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas.

Think we are ranked 8th nationally now. Mac and Ben are nominated for the national player award. We should have a good chance in the spring to get to NCAAs.
