was that a horse collar?Yes, Yes, and Yes again. It was right in front of us. Also, these clowns I mean “refs” rarely called holding on Cincy (and they held all game). Horrible officiating.

Re: was that a horse collar?Looked like a horse collar on the replay at Ford to me.

Re: was that a horse collar?
There will be a nice letter that says "oops, we missed it"...or maybe a phone call...or maybe nothing at all. We aren't Arkansas, or A&M. No BAS. There is no conspiracy. SMU is not cursed. Just a poorly officiated game. stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: was that a horse collar? There were 3 glaring holding penalties missed. Scott was held twice and Hall was held once. We were getting good pressure and then they started holding and nothing called. Also, right in front of the refs, one of their D linemen clearly pushed X Jones's head right into the ground while he was getting up after the play and pushed it down again. No call, nothing.
Re: was that a horse collar?i feel like in the past maybe we blamed refs for losses when we most likely would not have won anyway....but today it seems the refs might have actually cost us the F-ing game....but not being able to run the ball certainly hurt us too

Re: was that a horse collar? From my spot on the sideline, it sure looked like a horsecollar. I guess the argument was that the defender grabbed a portion of the jersey near the collar. But it didn't look that way to me.

Re: was that a horse collar?
The rule was changed last year to include the jersey. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: was that a horse collar?
TV announcers commented that the rule had been changed. Just a missed call but you can mark that down along with about 10 other things that "cost" SMU this game.
Re: was that a horse collar?
Scott was held all game long. Every time their QB escaped the pocket he was held to keep him from spinning out and containing. But even on standard pass rush he was held considerably.
Re: was that a horse collar?Agreed there were a lot of holding calls that were not made, including several blatant ones on the final drive.
Then again, we still win if we run the ball even remotely decent.
Re: was that a horse collar?you can now vote on DMN on if that cost us the game.
Yes is winning 72% Good Video here...ref right in front of it. https://sportsday.dallasnews.com/college-sports/smumustangs/2018/10/27/vote-horse-collar-no-call-cost-smu-win-vs-cincinnati Here is the New Rule defined - with a video clip that pretty much sums it up... https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2017/9/2/16218526/horse-collar-tackle-rule-ncaa-2017-change All players are prohibited from grabbing the inside back collar of the shoulder pads or jersey, the area, or the inside collar of the side of the shoulder pads or jersey, and immediately pulling the ball carrier down. This does not apply to a ball carrier, including a potential passer, who is inside the tackle box. For all of its existence, the rule has made it a penalty to reach inside the back of player’s jersey and yank him to the ground. Now, players also aren’t allowed to grab the outside of the jersey and pull the player down. The foul doesn’t require the tackler’s hand to slide inside the jersey and onto the bare shoulder pads of his opponent. Just like before, a horse-collar tackle is a 15-yard personal foul and carries an automatic first down for the non-offending team. First Down. Game Over. "Moral Victories Make Me Sick" - TR

Re: was that a horse collar?Yes, the rule changed. From my angle, i thought the guy got his hand inside the collar. But others had a better angle - hopefully that includes the officials

Re: was that a horse collar?
To me, it didn't appear he grabbed the shoulder pads from the inside. But if grabbing any part of the jersey in that area is a penalty, then one should have been called.
