The Larry Brown hire demonstrated it takes a "name" coach for SMU to compete for top talent. Hope I'm wrong and Jank can lead this team to a strong season and pull in a strong class for next year, but if not...need to hope the money men are willing to pay what it takes to convince a big name to take over the program. SMU hoops has a much better chance of competing at the highest level than the football program does.

Exactly! It took UCONN a ton of money and two wasted years to figure that out. I too hope Jank can get it together but I'm very doubtful and would bet against it at this point. It's never too early to plan ahead.

Even WITH the notable hires that Memphis and UCONN have they are just at the bottom of the curve and are starting to head back up. There's no way we compete in the years ahead with Marshall, Sampson, Dunleavy, Penny, Hurley, Cronin, Dawkins etc.....we need a guy.

note: hah...I left Cronin out of the first draft. He must have been standing behind Penny and Dawkins.
