I have to agree with Mrydel on the UTEP game. That was the loudest I have ever heard the stadium when we stopped UTEP on 4th down to send us to the Hawaii Bowl.

I thought SMU was bowl eligible in the win before that at 6 wins but the UTEP game gave us a guaranteed in at 7/wins. But yes, the game was important.

The UTEP game was for bowl eligibility, and the Tulane win 2 weeks later gave us 7 wins. Had we beaten Marshall the week after UTEP (Sterling Moore missed that game and his replacement was picked on all game long) we would have played for the C-USA title.
