I had suite seats for us vs Louisville. So amazing. Not that long ago but seems like a different era.
If we hire a new coach, I hope he’s not too good otherwise we’ll run him off for giving kids more than the allowable amount of granola bars.

HaHa, Jason, you should be a politician.JasonB wrote:Irrespective of any of that, the most important thing is that Miller won't let it slip.
National Rank of SMU players coming out of HS:
Isiaha Mike - Not Ranked
Nat Dixon - Not Ranked
Everett Ray - 354
Byrce Cook - 344
Darrius McBride - 355
Jahmar Young - 367
Curtis White - Not Ranked (but with a Ark -Little Rock offer)
Moody Madness is gone, replaced by empty seats. Worse is that you have pi$$ed off many of the fans that made Moody Madness so special, so it might take some extra effort to get them to return.
That's not slipping Jason, SMU is currently in a free fall.

It will be interesting to see just how far Miller and the other major backers of the bball program will let it slip before stepping in doing something (like making a coaching change).

We're just 2 recruiting classes and refurbished coaching offices away from a competitive program - LOL.

Hart doesn't schedule, that is all Jank.redpony wrote:maybe next year hart will dumb-down our schedule again and we will play a few high schools like HP, Allen and Flower Mound. Oh wait!! that could be embarrassing as well.

Look, this is very similar to the June Jones situation. People could see what was going on. But you couldn't fire the guy after 5 straight bowls. You had to let him fail once. Same thing here. Jank had a great season, then the injuries from last year. You had to give him one more shot or else coaches wouldn't risk coming here. He has this year to get back to the NCAA, and if he doesn't there will be a change.
Re: Official Game Thread - Powerful Lipscomb Bisons
JJ got to play out his contract largely because his buyout was too large - thanks Steve Orsini - and no donor wanted to step up to pay it. Plus, we’d be on the hook for 1 year of assistant coaches pay/ severance.....
BB is a different animal- Jank makes a little over 1mil and only has 3 assistants to pay off for a year of salary. I’m sure his buyout is not punishing.....
Unfortunately for Jank this years freshman were the class he had to get right to give him and the program momentum..... He didn’t get any big names that he could point to for future success or validation of his recruiting skill.... now with the team looking sloppy and getting beat by lesser opponents the door on the Jank era is closing.
A few blow out losses at home to a conference opponent will slam it shut.

Re: Official Game Thread - Powerful Lipscomb Bisons
June showed there was potential here. If we let go of him after the 5-7 season, it would have been a bad look. We wouldn't have had quality candidates interested. Same with Jank. If we ditched him after last season, it would have been a bad look.. But, you give him another shot, and if he fails this season, there are going to be a ton of high quality options available, because everyone saw the huge potential under LB.
This isn't going to be a huge rebuild for the new guy next year if this season doesn't turn around. You already have some core guys that are decent, an ellite big, then add a GT or two with remaining scholarships and a big recruit and it gets going very quickly. The program isn't over, and Miller has invested too much to have patience and watch it flutter away.

Re: Official Game Thread - Powerful Lipscomb Bisons
Look at the recruiting successes Penny has had at Memphis and Hurley is having at UCONN and look at the fan reaction both places. You get the right guy and the turnaround may not happen right away but the excitement does. Remember LB? We played games in Garland. We struggled a bit but you just knew we were headed in the right direction.
Hurley and Penny kept pretty much everyone on the existing squads and now they are adding their own guys. REALLY GOOD GUYS!
We get the right guy and the suffering will be far less than the BS we are enduring right now.

OK- I assumed hart was responsible for scheduling bball just like fball. or are you saying SD is scheduling our fball games now.
I guess jank was so busy scheduling games he forgot that he needed to recruit (successfully).
Re: Official Game Thread - Powerful Lipscomb Bisons
The AD does bare some responsibility for scheduling. Orsini scheduled Michigan in football not June. Hart was tweeting when he scheduled Michigan as well as Arkansas in a home and home basketball series. Both coach and AD bare responsibility for basketball scheduling. They work together.

Re: Official Game Thread - Powerful Lipscomb Bisons
Jank said that when he came in as an assistant with LB, that the university had only one OOC game scheduled that season. He was shocked and immediately took over the scheduling responsibilities to fill the schedule for that season. He has held the scheduling responsibilities ever since. Those are his words... not sure how football works and not sure what additional stuff the AD drives.redpony wrote:JasonB wrote: Hart doesn't schedule, that is all Jank.

Re: Official Game Thread - Powerful Lipscomb Bisons
Sounds like he is covering for the AD if he said that. Usually both AD and Coach share responsibly for scheduling.
