Why drag us through the mud another time?????? and for THIS????

This is what I cannot figure out. Even if he's p.o.'d about his grandson's treatment for whatever reason, this is supposed to help? Nuts. And somebody tell me why a parent gives a coach money to by food, as opposed to their kid????

I applaud Mr. Williams for turning in violations if he indeed felt they occurred. Damn you guys sound like the same group of whinners who didn't want to get their heads out of the sand in the 1980s. Hopefully those days of reactive denial are over.

really? You're into precedent. Name one situation that parallels this that you have ever heard of. It doesn't happen. Its stupid.

Now I guess I am really confused. I do not fault Mr. Williams for turning in a violation if he found one had occured. What I am having trouble with is that I had understood that it was Mr. Williams that gave the money with which the violation occured. Kind of like entrapment. Maybe I have too many rumors confused with too many facts so I will not speculate further. But that is why I was having trouble understanding why he would have done what he did.

Stallion, you follow college athletics rather closely. 2 Questions for you...1) If you had to guesstimate, how many violations of this magnitude or greater occur every year in college FB/BB? and 2) how many of these 'violations' are turned in by 'supporters' of the program? I can't recall ever witnessing circumstances like this one.

Abezontar - very funny

Mrydel - I only have 1 Question for you...are YOU a fan of SMU or not???

Well, that is confusing and it is also confusing that he goes to the press with the story and then says he's upset but he can't tell you what he's upset about. Strange stuff. And Stallion is right that questionable conduct should be reported to the AD, but not necessarily aired in public until the investigation yields some substance, I think.

That may well be the dumbest question ever posed on this board. I can only hope there is some unapparent facetiousness in there somewhere....

Only apparent to those who score in double-digits on their Wonderlics.

I think it's quite the contrary, Stallion. I for one prefer not to bury my head in the sand, but don't say "I don't like what's going on here...." and then decline to answer the inevitable follow-up question (oh really? what don't you like?). Get it out in the open. If it's supposed to be confidential, don't get ANYTHING out in the media. Otherwise, let's have it. What do you have? I don't recall Utah going to such lengths to keep the lid on burgergate when it was Majerus.

Btw, has Dale had anything to say on the issue on WFAA?

Now I am really confused. Attended, graduated, coached, season tickets, attend all home games although I live 350 miles away, give $100/per grandchild (5) to Mustang Club, Lettermens Club Member, and live and breathe SMU. I guess I do not know SoCal, am I a fan or not? If a friend or neighbor of yours committement a violent act against your family would you just let it slide?

A couple of weeks ago, in the other investigation thread, I said that when I first heard this story I didnt believe that could possibly be what the investigation was really about, because it was too ridiculous to be true. Now you all know what I meant. People are going to get hurt over this, and it has nothing to do with NCAA violations. Thats all I'm going to say.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.

More to the Point

Postby The Falcon » Fri Mar 03, 2006 3:29 pm

Relative to the previous post that said "there is nothing good about this."

The worst part is that there is much "bad" about this.

Bad Press
Bad PR
Bad Recruiting
Bad potential loss of a past donor and possibly future donor
Bad potential loss of an untested but possibly excellent 3 pt shooter
Bad vibes on remaining players
Bad loss of time and concentration for coaches
Bad feeling on my part and I don't even know at whom I should be the
most mad at this point.

Time will tell us what this is really all about. If it turns out that the violation(s) are more than the current story - it will hurt more. If the
violation is what we are being told here it is as bad as the officiating I have seen everywhere this year.

Mrydel,

Your 1,300+ posts speaks for itself.

I think you are one of the best fans SMU has had in the past 25 years. While that is not saying much given there are less than 500 diehards, it is still an accomplishment none-the-less.

My 'calling you out' was a joke in response to that yo-yo who actually did question your loyalty about a week ago. Tried to find the thread, guess it was one of those that got 'sanitized' recently.

Anways, keep posting...I enjoy your comments.

I am sorry I did not catch your drift. I get rankled when my loyalty is questioned. My wife would tell you I am too loyal. Your are right about the other thread. I was going to lump you into a Insane Posse Pony pile and forget about you. And yes the thread got burned and Jtstang tried to take credit but he was not awarded with the pull. Thanks for the followup.
