I think fouls had everything to do with that outcome. When our players went to the bench in foul trouble we were up. Once they came back UConn had a big lead that we were unable to come back from. You can blame Jankovich for not having more depth or excuse him due to the sanctions but our starters are definitely better than UConn.

Agree that David Miller et al will be making the decision. However, it is obvious we need a coaching change. If 'the powers that be' don't agree then we will see further deterioration in fan attendance and support. And Moody will end up like Ford with about 900-1200 hard-core fans. Even dollar bills won't fill those seats if you have a crappy product caused by inferior coaching.PonyLawExpress wrote:
I can confidently say there is NO CHANCE Jank gets fired at 11-7 or better in conference. He has support from a lot of people who matter in the decision making process. I’m not personally talking about if he should be fired but just saying his seat isn’t near as hot as you think.

"Fouls had nothing to do with why we looked like crap in Storrs and got slapped around and out-coached."
Seriously? I am not sure what world you are living in. I guess in your world having 3 or 4 guys in foul trouble do not help determine coaching decisions, the play of our team, and the outcome of the game. We were not out-coached. UCONN played well. UCONN is well coached. Give UCONN credit. SMU is well coached. SMU did not play our best game against UCONN. Compare how we played against Tulsa vs UCONN... Our guys did not get into foul trouble against Tulsa. Our guys actually played defense against Tulsa. Our guys moved the ball around better against Tulsa. We won by 20.

Hopeless? We got lots of reasons for hope. 2-1 in conference with a big game against the Coogs coming. Have some fun. It’s ok

Every win matters this season. We can only play whoever is on our schedule. Going to be a competitive season. Cinci lost to East Carolina. Cinci almost lost their last 2 games against Tulsa and UCONN. Credit to them for winning close games. Going to be fun seeing who wins the American this season. Beat Houston! Pony Up!

I agree that every win matters, but conversely every loss matters too and we have a pair of terrible losses to Southern Miss and Bradley. Lipscomb and UConn are disappointing but ok and TCU is maddening but ok.

If we play like we did at UCONN we will be lucky to win two out of the next 6 games. I would not be surprised to see cougar high really pound us.

Announced attendance was 6001. Some of you that attended can comment on actual butts in seats estimate. I do expect Houston to be the best crowd of the year...should be better than what we had for TCU because this is a conference rival game.used to be 2 wrote:Anybody know what was the official and real attendance vs. Tulsa.

I was surprised by how good attendance was. With a 5pm start time and the Cowboys on TV atCharleston Pony wrote:Announced attendance was 6001. 7pm, I thought I might be the only one there. However, most sections were near full and I was
estimating there were between 5K - 6K there. Not very many students there because they probably had not returned to school yet. I would also expect the best crowd of the year for Houston.

Last 2 games have been decently attended despite no students

No one implied the 1500 would not attend some games through Stub Hub.
