Re: Any Jank defenders left?
Syracuse had very similar sanctions (and even some injuries). How are they doing?

Re: Any Jank defenders left?
FYI, here they are.
Here is a complete list of the penalties the NCAA handed down:
1. Jim Boeheim suspended for nine ACC games in the 2015-16 season.
2. The vacation of 108 of Boeheim's coaching victories, dropping him down to sixth on the all-time wins list in Division I.
3. A reduction of 12 scholarships over four years.
4. Fine of $500 per contest played by ineligible students.
5. Syracuse must return to the NCAA all funds it has received to date through the former Big East Conference revenue sharing for its appearances in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. This could cost the school more than $1 million.
6. Reduction in the number of permissible off-campus recruiters

"Hi I'm the Head Coach who was the Associate Head Coach/Head Coach in Waiting for 4 years when Larry Brown was here. I signed two contracts with the then-Athletic Director.
Also, just so you know, I had no clue what was going on during those four years. I just played guitar and taught them how to shoot the three ball. Had no clue who we hired, who was doing what, how we recruited, who the Prospective Student Athletes were, whether any benefits were paid, and why kids committed to play here. No other Assistant Coach ever discussed anything with me.
It's totally unfair to judge me on the 3 years I was Head Coach after the 4 years I was Associate Head Coach. I was totally forced into these circumstances I had absolutely nothing to do with and no clue about and I couldn't have taken my ball and gone home for a bunch of money if I knew I was being set up to fail.
I need another year without recruiting restrictions even though I already blew my recruiting wad for next cycle and didn't land a single impact player. In fact, of players eligible next season I recruited, one 1 has 1 D-1 offer."

Amazing that he didn't learn anything from LB regarding coaching, recruiting etc.
Or any of the other top head coaches he has worked under!

Sort of bogus comparison since Syracuse is one the top ten programs since 2000 - Apples to Oranges - no pun intended.
Re: Any Jank defenders left?
Both were ncaa tournament-caliber teams when it happened and SMU was more talented so it is a fair comparison. Also, Syracuse is at about that level still whereas SMU has fallen off a cliff. Keep pedaling the same [deleted] somewhere else, weΓÇÖre all stocked up here.

Imagine if Ron Meyer, one of the best recruiter of all time in any sports, told Eric Dickerson that he didn't have enough scholarships to recruit enough offensive linemen? Think Dickerson would have turned down A$M? Think Dickerson would have though, ΓÇÿHades, its not like I need offensive linemen to succeed.ΓÇÖ We all know if Dickerson had to face that he would be shown on the sidelines everytime A$M was on TV.
Does anyone think Jank can attract a one and done when he has to tell him there are not enough quality players to practice and Jank couldnΓÇÖt recruit a strong Post, shooting guard, power forward, etc. because he didnΓÇÖt have enough scholarships?
Oh, and does anyone with a momentary lapse of SANITY think any decent coach would consider SMU after firing a coach that stepped in with severe scholarships reductions? What coach would come into a program that will ax a coach without even giving him a chance to have at least the same number of scholarship players as the competition?
Remember how well LSU was able to recruit a top 5 coaches after theyΓÇÖre handling of Les Miles? Oh, thatΓÇÖs right, the two top 5 coaches they offered turned them down. One even went to revolving door A$M. Screwing a coach has consequences.
There is a reason that the NCAA handed SMU such a severe penalty. We are seeing the results. Want to blame someone; maybe our hero, Larry Brown, has a tad to do with this situation
Oh, and since Jank stepped in with a known, KNOWN scholarship reduction, would he be considered an idiot if he didnΓÇÖt include in his contract a guarantee for job security (i.e. a huge buy out) if fired before he can fully recruit? If he didnΓÇÖt, he is stupid as is his agent and then, I would agree, he deserves to be fired for being too stupid to do the sensible thing.
For me, the determination of whether Jank is great, average or terrible has to wait till after he has had a chance to compete on a level playing ground.
Wow, just wow....this post is so very off base -----WTF?

Plus loss of ticket revenue, advertising revenue, etc. People only look at costs when they should consider revenue loss a major consideration.

Putting out a pathetic product on the floor probably does more damage than hiring a new coach, short term or long.

Janks body language and demeanor are worse than jjΓÇÖs near the end. ThatΓÇÖs actually my misn problem with him. ItΓÇÖs like heΓÇÖs ashamed to be the hc.

While it's definitely not my main problem (recruiting is) with him it is very evident. He has a detachment to the whole thing that really bugs me. What I really find interesting is that he's so popular with most of his players. Will constant losing change that?
