Didn't they break ground on the New Practice Facility?

SMU Master Plan Map from Plant Operations

Those were the two maps I found, Unfortunately I can't seem to find a key that will tell us definitely what the proposed buildings are.

Has anyone seen any drawings of the practice facility? What is it supposed to look like?

I remember hearing way back when that the practice facilities were supposed to be part of the renovated Moody, on the map that would place them in front of the current Moody entrance. If they mean to place it where the transition building is now (building 26) then they will have to wait until the other engineering building is completed, as long as they are still using the transition building for ME offices and labs.

I once saw a plan that had it out in front (ie: west) of Moody so that the total basketball complex simply extended all the way to the street (between Moody and the soccer field). Maybe that has changed, but it was drawn that way a year or two ago. It created a focal point toward the new Dedman Center and the Doak statue.

The original drawings called for a single expanded building, going up a level for offices, and expanding the entrance out toward the LXA house. However, the cost of that building was really really high -- can't remember the exact number. We need something yesterday, so we told the designers to go back to the drawing board and they came up with a separate practice/office/lockerroom/training facility connected by a tunnel to the floor of Moody -- it is much less. That means it can get started much sooner.

I have seen the drawings, but I can't remember many details but it looked very nice.

Did it have a room for the various necessities of recruiting big time athletes... i.e. bedding like in that one movie with Denzel Washington and that kid named Jesus.....anybody?
