What's interesting about this is I'd argue they were following our plan when we hired Brown. Similar schools demographically going after successful NBA coaches. It worked (somewhat) for us, it didn't for them. I like Tulane, so I'm sorry that was the case.

Unlike Larry Brown, Dunleavy inherited a future NBA #35 pick (Melvin Frazier).

Larry brought in a bunch of great transfers to get things kick started. David Miller also had a lot to do with the turnaround in facilities.

I am not so sure the blueprint was even close to the same. Have you seen Tulane's High School gym? How do you recruit to that?

Maybe Cannen comes back. I would like to see him on the bench!

I would as well. However, not with tankovich as coach. Why stain the rep of a really good player with the stigma of a 'do nothing loser' coach?

Hmmm, at least 75% of the high schools in Texas are now offended.

Was that their gym when they were in the SEC? Looks like a Cafegymatorium.

They just freshened up their on-campus gym/arena. It's small, but I like it. Also have a very nice beer selection and it just a few minutes walk to the streetcar stop in front of campus.

Tulane seats just over 4,000. Gonzaga only has 6,000 seats. It can be done. Good school in major metro area, pro basketball in town...sound familiar? Much easier to create demand to pack that 4,000 seat snake pit than what we are trying to accomplish with only 7,000 seats. If Tulane ever gets really good, they will probably destroy their program with a re-seat.

I’m surprised Gonzaga’s arena only holds 6,000 but that’s right. I visited the campus a few years ago and it’s like walking around Schreiner College and all of a sudden you see this ΓÇ£massiveΓÇ¥ arena.

Visited Tulane last year and it wasn’t obvious which building was the arena. Seems like middle left of campus when viewing from the street. I was also amazed at how small the football stadium was at the back of campus. Students seem smart/rich if you’re into that. Maybe Loyola is attractive like TSU is at UH for some athletes.
