Only so much you can do.

He'd be crazy to already be talking to them when he arguably has his best team he's ever had. Has a real shot for the final 4

17 years ago Sampson took OU to the Final Four and the year after to the Elite Eight.
Going again with another school can cement his legacy.
It seems like he's very focused on the task at hand.

Agree ! Look for some flirtation with other schools for a little more $$$ and a "coach in waiting" (see SMU coaching
disaster) agreement for his son.

The flirtation is real but so is the ΓÇ£coach in waitingΓÇ¥ clause for his son request. I do not think that will fly. I still think Sampson ends up at UA but if not I think the CIW is the deal breaker.

Latest rumors in Arkansas are:
1. If Texas Tech does not win the NC, Beard goes to UA as the 3rd highest paid coach in the nation.
2. If not Beard, then Greg Marshall
3. Musselman is still in the conversation but falling

It's unfortunate that it's always about $$$. I had a fairly successful career working in the criminal justice system but the best years of my life were when I was a student at SMU.

When Beard was at UALR, would Arkansas have even given him the time of day? Now they are begging and backing up the armored truck. When they call, he should pick up the phone laughing.mrydel wrote:Latest rumors in Arkansas are:

In the past the Governor has never let any of the system schools poach from each other. That is a major reason Malzahn did not go from Arkie State to Arkansas. Of course the governor at that time was an Arkie State alum.

Apparently Musselman outvoted his wife and is heading to Arkansas.

If true, it shows how little respect the Hog program now has nationally. Seems like it was just yesterday that I was sitting in Barnhill South (Reunion Area) watching one of the most exciting basketball teams in the country and hearing an ear shattering call of the hogs. E.M. had to be their fifth or sixth choice. I think SEC has been a very big mistake for UA.
