I’m not saying he could not have made more money but he could’ve made A LOT more? A lot more would make him the highest paid player in basketball history. Please explain how that should be the case.ponyboy wrote:1. Adjusted to inflation, that figure loses a good portion of its strength; and 2. he was well-paid due to his endurance.
It's clear he could have made a lot more money by not being loyal to his adopted city. He gave up a lot, especially in terms of how other players and the press saw him (i.e. the idea salary = how good you are), in order to try to help Cuban get him get a better supporting cast.

There will never be anyone else in any pro sports that plays 21 years for 1 team. That is simply amazing.

Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera immediately come to mind. Those guys played their entire careers for the Yankees and although they played more than 20 years with the same organization, they "only" played 20 and 19 seasons, respectively, at the major league level. Not very many examples of those kinds of guys, though and certainly not in the future.

But it is probably true nobody being drafted today in any sport will ever get close.
