KEDRIC JAMES TO SMU
https://www.al.com/alabamafootball/2019 ... ation.html
"A departing Alabama player has decided on a transfer destination.
Former Crimson Tide tight end Kedrick James is transferring to SMU, he told AL.com.
SMU is less than two hours away from home for James, a Waco, Texas native.
A former four-star recruit, James was part of Alabama’s 2017 recruiting class. The 6-foot-5, 260-pound James had a 29-yard touchdown catch-and-run during the Tide’s spring game in April.
He went into the NCAA transfer portal July 12."
EDIT:
Okay, so the upside is that the kid is a genuine physical freak, and is quite possibly the most talented TE in the conference right now - by a country mile - just by announcing his transfer.
The downside is that he may be a bit of a headcase, has failed a drugtest, and was slated as the possible starter at his position for the biggest program in the country right now but couldn't hold on to the job. Alabama lost two different TE's for various reasons BEFORE he decided his transfer, so maybe there's more to it than just James' issues.
I've said for years we needed a TE and I hope to the Lord above this is the guy. Plus, he's a junior, so we get two years. Let's see how this pans out.

If you want to win, you need to deal with some headaches. Typically SMU is averse to dealing with any of these issues but maybe times are a changin'?

Texas, Bama, Nebraska, Arkansas & Boston College so Sonny bringing in guys from at least 5 different P5 schools. Plenty of Chad's guys leaving and we can only hope Sonny is bringing in upgrades. Don't see any big losses among those leaving. NCAA's new transfer rules are bringing free agency to college sports and I don't see anything wrong with that. Kids should be happy where they are and hopefully enjoy their college experience. Would like to see immediate eligibility for all, but using a RS year is certainly an advantage for any kid who values the educational opportunity that his sport is providing. Would like to see the RS option as something between the player and his new coach

Nice twitter note from a Bama fan about what a good kid he is and that we had better treat him well.

Interesting quote from a teammate at Alabama:
ΓÇ£Kedrick is one of the freakiest guys on the team as far as physical prowess goes,ΓÇ¥ Bama redshirt junior tight end Miller Forristall said last year. ΓÇ£I mean he’s huge and he can run and he can jump, and I’ve seen him throw a ball like 65 yards standing still. He is athletically, like, tremendously talented, and he’s got huge potential.ΓÇ¥

TE option pass?
Just send 'da money.
Re: KEDRIC JAMES TO SMU
Maybe getting closer to home will help. His family can come to games and that might help him.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: KEDRIC JAMES TO SMU
Wonder if he could work as a converted DE, unless we need to keep him at TE. Sounds like he has the size for it Kevin Kane had converted a good one at NIU as I recall.
