Arkasas State news you might want
I wanted to stop in and let you know that our head coach is taking a leave of absence to be with his wife who is battling stage 4 breast cancer. To be brutally honest she's in hospice and the end is near if the rumor pipeline isn't lying to me.
I'm sure our guys will show up to play but this is going to take the wind out of our sails.

Nobody wants that news. God bless his wife and family.
Re: Arkasas State news you might want
Yeah, probably didn't word that well. Sorry. I just meant I knew you guys would understand and be sympathetic. Man, cancer sucks.
Re: Arkasas State news you might want
I’m so sorry for your coach and family. I hope our team will acknowledge his struggle before the game to pay him the respect and sympathy he is due.
I’m praying for him!

Prayers. The game and game of life. We are all playing the latter....all-in.

Coach Anderson has been carrying this burden while on the job for a long period of time. Wendy has been an inspiration to the team and is loved by the players. Although it has been long known that the end was coming, she has taken what seems to be the last turn just recently. Coach Anderson has understandably been absent a lot during the summer.
It is a very sad situation for a young family and puts sports back into perspective. Prayers go out to the Anderson family and the extended family of the ASU community.

Sad news for sure, but you said what a lot of people were thinking. This will be a rallying cry for their team. Only question, is what the slogan will be.

I honestly do not think their will be a public ΓÇ£battle cryΓÇ¥. It could definitely be an incentive or it could be a total devastating effect, but this is going to be the loss of a family member to the team.

Man, that's heartbreaking. I thought I read somewhere that Coach Anderson and Sonny Dykes are close friends. If so, it could be a very emotional day on both sides.
Cancer is brutal. Our best to Coach Anderson and his family.

Re: Arkasas State news you might want
I agree. I don't see this being anything but a gut ripping loss for our staff and team at this point. There's even a thread in our forum about keeping our damned mouths shut this year regardless of the outcome. At this point all those close to the situation are just trying to get through the pain. Most of us fans didn't expect Anderson to be in spring camp, much less at the scrimmage last weekend. If we play a good game at any point this season it will be because of his commitment to this team and players. We'll see what happens but whatever it is, who cares? It's football.

My thoughts and prayers for the coach, his wife and everyone impacted by the news. The game will be played but the real fight is somewhere else much more important.
