signing a big name coach like bobby helps, but imploding with him reverses progress dramatically

Re: A new low: SMU & Evansville sign home-and-home
the bball program hit a new low last year thanks to an incompetent coach, AD and boosters who didn't care enough to step up and make a change. Now we are paying the penalty. I hope the financial losses are great to show how far this program has fallen from the days of Larry Brown and the interest of those in dallas.
if you want to see your name in lights you need to keep paying for the bulbs..

The Purple Aces averaged 5300 fans last year and were 9-7 at home.
They are in the same conference as Jank’s old school, SIU.

Per NCAA stats, the Ponies averaged 5,770 last season. The way attendance has been slipping towards the DOH Zone, 5,300 might look pretty good.

Agreed. I guess we should just continue bringing in opponents from lower rated conferences who at least won't require a home/home series. Evansville actually has a pretty respectable basketball history and a fan base better than ours, so they can undoubtedly pay us what we are paying them and that is, after all is said and done, the bottom line

I agree with Ponyboy also and with Charleston in that Evansville has a fairly good basketball
pedigree. They are also in the center of good basketball in Indiana. Maybe Jank wants to
recruit another point guard like the one he brought with him who played high school
basketball in Indiana.

Evansville could be our sister school! Haven't won an NCAA tournament game since the late 80s and 0-3 since.

Not sure you know what that word means. He is the biggest conformist, but not delusional.

I don’t know that conformist is the right term, maybe it is. I just like to be happy and to enjoy my team. The constant negativity just sucks the fun out of everything. I mean, I’d really hate to spend more than five minutes with a good number of the posters on here. What depressing lives they must live.
