Re: Meanwhile in Hogland
Look, who cares if you feel jilted because Chad chose to leave us for Arkansas. The fact of the matter is that it led us to hire Sonny Dykes, who is actually a MUCH better fit for our school, and who has us 4-0 for the first time since pre-Death Penalty, with the win today against the team we hate the most, and who was ranked in the top 25.
I didn't even know who SMU was in 1984, and I barely knew who SMU was when we got the Death Penalty. This is absolutely the best season of SMU football thus far in my time as an SMU fan and I am absolutely loving it. And in a weird way, we have Chad to thank for that because his leaving led us to Sonny. So thanks Chad for being an idiot and leaving here. I for one am glad you left.
So it's over. Done. I don't care if he wins, I don't care if he loses, and I certainly can't believe people spend this much of their time focusing on him given that we are in much better shape without him. It looks like his tenure at Arkansas is likely going to come to an abrupt end very soon. Seriously, so [deleted] what?

I do agree, that I don't give a damn about the Razorbacks or Chad or Ben, I do, though, love that loss to SJSUSGA or however you spell it.
What I would like,
Is Stallion's take on this. Why doesn't he come to defend his beloved Chad and Ben?

Even better the second time. Greatness.

I can't believe just how many people who "don't care" come into a thread about Arkansas and spend so much time writing posts about not caring.
I agree Sonny is the best thing to happen to this program in a long time. Super excited about the direction we're headed.
College football is fun. Texas fans still hate on Aggies. TCU fans hated on Franchione until there wasn't anything to hate on anymore. And, yeah, I think it is fun to hate on Chad. Ever Count of Monte Cristo?

Be clear about one thing. You’re not a better pony fan because you don’t care about Chad. Being a fan is an indulgence. That’s the point. Revel in the subplots and politics. Rail against the perceived injustices and delight in revenge. Our world is the entire landscape of college football. And not all of it is negative. We empathized with Arky State over the tragic loss of he coaches wife and even some people had issues with that.

I don't like Chad because he was a complete asshat to the university. He deserves to be on everyone's [deleted] list. June got a lot of venom for quitting on the recruiting trail, and I get that. Chad was a complete pr!ck to SMU, worse than June, and deserves what he gets.

I don't get mad at any coach who leaves for more money. Coaching is their profession and that is how they provide for their families. Heaven knows the schools have no loyalty to their coaches. On the other hand when they leave a team before the season is over to gain a recruiting advantage with their new employer it is a total lack of class and a bad lesson for the kids on both teams involved. We all have our reasons to like or dislike a particular team and my dislike of Arkansas stems from the fact that Chad coaches there. This is a situation where the girlfriend leaves and then we find out that the girlfriend had none of the qualities that we thought we admired in her. Good riddance. Thanks Sonny for restoring some semblance of order to the program. If you are offered SEC money I don't want you to leave but would wish you good luck because you actually are a person of character.

If you somehow thought I was claiming to be a better fan because I could now care less about him, then I seriously underestimated just how butt hurt you still are about Chad leaving.

Re: Meanwhile in Hogland
After the win over TCU, I recalled a bible study where Chad was the guest speaker. He commented that it was tough to beat out TCU and Baylor for recruits without facilities, Big 12, etc. He seemed to think he'd do much better if he could have those platforms for recruits. Then comes Sonny who whipped TCU's "better athletes." He had to piece together scores of new bodies into a cohesive group. He also hired Kane vs. plucking a big, expensive name like Chief.

Chad's only hope is to create a solid pipeline from Texas but ne needs to win really soon to make the place halfway attractive. I don't see it happening in the SEC West. Let's hope JJ doesn't decide to steal Sonny to replace Chad.
Didn’t stop Nutt from winning the SEC West twice or Petrino from winning 10 and 11 games back to back.
It’s really unbelievable that Morris lost to a MWC team that was 1-11 last year. I mean he even beat better teams than that at SMU. Takes a pretty big combination of suck between the coaching staff and players both. Going to be hard to justify keeping him after another 2-10 season if it comes to that but also looks bad firing a coach that soon so I’m not sure what the solution is.

I'm not overly familiar with what Chad is doing, but I suspect he is completely turning over a roster that was built by a Big 10 smash mouth guy to a team with speed. As he said when he came here, "you either have speed or you end up chasing it". Question is whether Arkansas will give him the 5 years he will probably need as Chad always preferred to build his roster from the H.S. ranks

That's surprisingly reasonable. Normally fans can't even fathom that a head coach they really like would leave their school much less wish him good luck
