correct answer based on SMU Media Release for SMU Tulsa game is 12 + co-starter Demerick Gary committed to Morris and almost every single one is playing outstanding with a long list competing for ALL-AAC honors (maybe not First String but recognition)
Mikail Onu also starts at Colorado-2nd leading tackler One few remember is Cam Phillips who starts and is Arizona St's 4th leading tackler as a true Soph- Phillips decommitted from SMU shortly after Morris left. Michael Woods starts at Arkansas and is their leading receiver as a true Soph. Dylan Horton is starting and 2nd leading tacler at New Mexico as a true Soph.
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

And somehow Sonny has us at 5-0. All of those schools have losing records.

Arkansas is the only one of those schools with a losing record.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

I'd like to believe that has more to do with Sonny breaking new ground and having success with an almost entirely new transfer model rather than an indictment of Morris' recruiting efforts.
I made the point before the season
We have 21 of 25 listed starters back off a team that was a QB away from winning the west last year. And frankly, the only reason we got Hicks is because other schools kept stealing our QB recruits. So I really believed if (and it was a big if) Buechele was successful using last years team, we were going to be genuinely good.
Now, I'm not saying we'd be 5-0 with just those guys and Buechele, but the backbone of this years' success was built last year, and like it or not, CCM had a lot to do with that.
I really will never understand this board's never ending thirst for hating on Morris. The guy helped turn around recruiting after June Jones actively quit trying. He brought in a lot of players that are helping the team now. He absolutely changed the culture from a team that no longer believed in itself to one that thinks they should be in each game. He left SMU in a far better place than any of the recent previous coaches and that is what you want from a coach that everyone knew was going to jump at P5 offers. It's not like anyone didn't know SMU was going to be a short term location for him so acting like he did SMU dirty is just plain wrong.
Furthermore, SMU fans have pretty much zero standing to call anyone out on loyalty. I was there for the Navy game in his second year when over half the fans on the alumni side got up and left after Navy went up 18 just 2 minutes into the 3rd quarter following a pick 6. The players turned around and stared the fans down in disgust. Its a miracle there weren't a massive amount of transfers and a giant drop in recruiting after that pathetic display by the so called fans.

By that measure June Jones had Gabe Brooks, and a bunch of highly regarded players that ended up at UCLA and Washington State before we lost our stud recruiter. SMDH

I agree. Ponyfans have a natural reaction and despise anyone that wants to better their career and go on to bigger and better jobs. What's the last coach SMU fans liked after they left?? Bennett? June? Morris? I sense a trend.....
For the record, I think Sonny is 'home' and this is his spot. Knew we had the right guy when he was walking around Moody with a Shiner beer
funny, i don't see Richard Moore listed above. Guy gets hurt and kicked to the curb. He was the starter and team leader two weeks ago. I'm not for or against Morris, he is what he is. He did some good things on offense and with overall team discipline, made mistakes on program management and defensive oversight. Some other points: Will Brown might be your QB of the future. Good kid, good potential. In three years, will y'all be giving Morris credit if Brown is a player? Kemon Freeman, whether the starter or not is significant part of the offense. Same with Ryan Becker. Judah bell looks like a player. Pono Davis was here under Morris, so was Demerick, Turner Coxe and Ndukwe. If you want to label everybody, actually have to give Morris era players big credit for the D Line resurgence and depth. Pretty sure Armani Johnson was here under Morris. Kevin Johnson got hurt or would be starting. I'm rooting for Sonny but god some of you guys are propaganda machines. The whole 60 new players thing including walk-ons is just sales hype just like Morris used to do. Give me a break. The king is dead, long live the King.
