For the record I still like Bennett and June. Mike Cavan was a fraud. I'm not a Chad Morris fan either.

Cavan was the best post DP recruiter. Bennett, as much as the story about his wife tugged at the heartstrings, was apparently a psycho who verbally abused players. June was a blessing who for four years made us at least a blip on the radar. (We quit on him as much as he quit on us). Chad did some cool things, but dropped us like a hot potato when another pretty woman walked by. Dykes is the best thing to happen to the program post DP and it's just early year two.

You're right. It's a business and some in business have class and some don't.

Nothing wrong with taking a better higher paying gig, but it does matter to some the way you go about it.

I guess some can be be Scott Frost and not leave their players/fans in a lurch and others are like used car salesmen and don't give a damn.

Chad "0-14 against Power 5 teams" Morris is a scum-bag.

"Frost said on Tuesday that he would indeed be back with the Knights for one last hurrah on New Year’s Day. Frost told Omaha.com that he knows it’s a weird situation, but he wants to do right by his former players and will commit fully to the bowl game: “There’s some unusual circumstances but we’re gonna handle this as we would any bowl game of this type,” Frost said. “Our staff is completely committed and we’re going to do everything we can for this football team.”

I was a student during the Bennet years and a football players girlfriend told me something to that effect about Bennett. Guess it was true.

The way you go about it is if your team gets a bid to a lower-tier bowl then you don't coach the game (Morris, Herman, Taggart, Rhule, Fuente, Collins) and if your team gets a bid to a NY6 bowl then you coach the game (Frost).

The way you go about it is don't make it an open secret you'll take anybody's phone call to leave when you actually haven't done very much since you had nowhere to go but up at SMU and you're thought of as a super awesome coach.

Look, I'm so happy he left because we fell right in to what seems to be an amazing situation. But you can always bet I'll enjoy every bit of Morris squirming as he gets roasted in the SEC west and loses games he shouldn't. He coached scared at SMU and imho isn't a head coach, so his high energy/I'm cool schtick is impossible not to enjoy watching get blasted by Ark fans.

Yeah Chad knew he would get is [deleted] kicked in the bowl so he bailed on his players.

He leaves and teams (Clemson, SMU, and soon Arkansas) gets better!

So whats your excuse for Chad not saying one word to the SMU fans upon departure? Not a single word of thanks to the loyal SMU fans that did support Chad and his players thru his 14-22 record at SMU!

And what's your excuse for Chad allowing the train wreck to happen as far as coaching his SMU Players in the bowl game? See the lies below. Chad allowed that promise to be broke because he is a used car salesman.

"We have a bowl game to play in two weeks and that will be our focus,” Traylor said. “The coaching staff and I are here to lead these young men and get them ready to play a talented and well-coached Louisiana Tech team in the DXL Frisco Bowl on Dec. 20."

The "coaching staff were not there to lead the young men"...a few Chad throwaways like Van Malone may have helped...but pretty much Chad and Company bailed. I guess Chad and his real assistant coaches needed to leave their SMU players behind because Chad really needed that head start that has turned into so much success for him!

Poor Sonny had to import a near record amount of transfers to clean up the so called "great recruiter" mess. Chad's a scumbag and it's a pleasure watching him getting his karma now at Arkansas.

Well written. It's not that he left, it's that he always wanted to leave and showed this true colors when he left without a semblance of gratefulness for SMU who paid him millions and millions of dollars. He's an ungrateful SOB and at best is a used car salesman that is getting exposed as a HC again.

You never burn a bridge and he did exactly that. I liked him while he was here but he flirted and left in such a bad way, which makes me question his sincerity and ethic. Left a fresh steamer on his way out the door.

Chad is still learning to be an effective Division I head coach and his loyalty to staff has hurt him, but let's be realistic about how difficult it has been in the post death penalty era to recruit for SMU football. Transfer portal has been huge and Sonny will be the 1st to admit he is in the "right place at the right time". Of course, Patterson built on the foundation Fran had laid and did so with quite a few transfers in his early years as I recall.

Chad clearly wasn't wild about the fan support here (can't say I blame him  ) so it's not surprising that he didn't write a love letter to us on his way out. As for the Frisco train wreck, once Chad took the Arkansas job his focus was there and he owed us nothing. Traylor wanted the full time job and left when he didn't get it, Malone would have been a better choice for the interim since he obviously wasn't going to Arkansas.

I agree IPP. It would have taken chadster 5 minutes to thank Pony nation for its support, and we certainly DID help him financially, both coming and going. He chose not to. A surprisingly un-car salesmenship act, even for him.

I would add the sexual assault awareness game around the time of his skirt lift to Waco as other contributing factors.

I have nothing against Arkansas. We’ve had a great history with them and hopefully will in the future. Having said that, I hope they fall flat on their face for the foreseeable future.
