To this day I am surprised Baylor gets even one female applicant.
Baylor should have been given the DP. Briles should never be allowed to step foot on a college campus again. He knew he was recruiting rapists, thugs, and knuckleheads, but as long as they helped him win, he didnΓÇÖt care.

Completely agree. I donΓÇÖt understand how someone can compare what Baylor and Perv state did which was so morally unconscionable and say they have a story of redemption. A true story of redemption would have been to eliminate both football programs for life. ItΓÇÖs despicable how ESPN aggrandizes Penn StateΓÇÖs football environment and stadium considering the atrocities that occurred In that same building. The NCAA is a farce.

Our real tragedy is that schools like Baylor, Ohio State, Penn State, Marshall, UAB all had in one fashion or another had to start over. It took us 28 years to move forward, and these schools all returned in 3-10 years. Think about Marshall, losing all their coaches and players in a tragic airplane crash, or UAB closing down the program altogether. We didn't recover not because we couldn't hire good coaches, but because our administration simply didn't want to! It's not a mystery.
When I lived in LA and attended a fundraiser with Dr. Pye, I mentioned the Stanford model of good academics and good football. He actually said to me, "We don't want to follow that model!", and walked away. He didn't and we had 20 years of bad to mediocre football. Finally SMU got it, spent some bucks and hired Jones, Morris and the best so far in Dykes. That's the story and I am sticking to it.

Dr. Pye, what an idiot. Thanks for sharing this story while even though painful it does explain a lot.
