Even his kids hate him.

All Dale BS aside, what's telling is his story about JJ not being able to offer a kid a scholarship and then the kid goes to Stanford.

SMU in a nutshell.

I certainly don't recall that one. Would like to know who that player was. Sounds like JJ sour grapes to me.

If I recall, the coach paid for the boots and said he had intended to get the money back from Simmons who had accidentally forgotten to pay. But the coach forgot to get the money back.

When I communicated with Berst I mentioned that event and he said it did not rise to the level of an infraction. If you go back and dig up when UT was put on probation later for other violations, that event was included in the report so apparently it did meet the standard but was just kind of shoved under the table at the time it happened.

According to our former AD's brother in law (who I did business with), Berst told Hicks years after they handed us the death penalty that they would never use that penalty again because they had grossly underestimated the financial impact to the University. You could put together a "who's who" list of Top 10 football programs that "earned" the penalty in subsequent years who were just given penalties of reduced 'ships and the explanation was that they had cooperated with the investigation

Maybe true but all I presented was before the DP. UT did get probation but no sanctions.

OU bought Marcus Dupree's mother a house and we got the DP. I don't know which reporter from that era I despise more Hansen or Skip Balless. It was lazy journalism. Just like the apocryphal story about the player going to Stanford. That's about as believable as Craig James' working girl murder spree. It's a wonder he didn't bring that up.

Intrepid reporter? No.

Curmudgeon? Hack? Getting closer..

A fat, drunken, womanizing slob. The fact that he is still employed in a major market speaks to how little money is left in local journalism.

Loser.... not because he was so biased against SMU.... meet the guy and your first thought is what a slob..

Saw him the other night on tv. Amazed at how terrible he looked. Like he feel off a barstool and landed on his face. And as soon as he got up was hit by a truck. Bloated doesnt begin to desribe him. Blimp like. Friend told me he now weighs 320 or more. And reeks. Just reeks. Apparently he showees maybe once a week. On a good week. Food actually sticks to his face. Which is an improvemt.

I agree with those who say we need to get over seeing Dale Hansen as a villain and and just embrace the death penalty. We are probably the only school that will ever see that penalty assessed against it and the simple fact is that we cheated better than anyone else in those days...including the whorns & aggies and that's pretty impressive. Given a level playing field, we know we can beat those guys.

We can embrace the death penalty and still despise Hansen. He blows in multiple more ways than what he did to SMU.
