We are being WAY outplayedBad defense, can’t cover kicks, our punter is a defensive back.
We are lucky we aren’t being beaten by 4TDs. We still have a LONG way to go to get to the next level. I had to turn it off. SMU Grad 1996 - Worked in SMU athletic recruiting office under Forrest Gregg and Bill Weidner from 1992-1997.
Re: We are being WAY outplayedWell be legit when we have special teams. Until then its all pretend

Re: We are being WAY outplayedSome people aren’t cut out for sports
Re: We are being WAY outplayedMeh.
We've been on the other side of that eight times so far this year. It was Memphis' night. Give them props.
Re: We are being WAY outplayedI can't quit early on these guys...not after Tulsa
Re: We are being WAY outplayedWe still don’t have the depth across the roster to fill out a decent kick coverage team or the skill guys needed on special teams. It’s been obvious all year but our offense has been so good that we’ve been able to overcome it. The difference in this game was field position and their kicker. Depth matters. A punter matters. A kicker matters. Expect this staff to fix it.
But we also should remember that we stand a good chance to finish 11-1 and ranked. And we could still win the division with a little help. For my money, the goal is now 11 wins total. Anything more is a bonus and less is a disappointment.
Re: We are being WAY outplayed
A 10-2 is not a disappointment.
Re: We are being WAY outplayed
It would be starting today, considering how we just played and who remains on the schedule. You wouldn’t be disappointed if we lost 2 of the next four (including bowl?)???!

Re: We are being WAY outplayed10-2 would still be a great regular season and would probably get SMU invited to a decent bowl game. Finish 11-1 and these guys might still sneak into the AAC Championship game, but we still have 3 tough games to be played. Hopefully this loss will not lead to another next week. Can't take ECU lightly as they have been competitive against some of the better teams in their division

LOL.... “I’m taking my ball and going home.” Losing sucks. But not playing is far worse. This crew isn’t finished. Party at The Wopper!
Re: We are being WAY outplayed
Rome wasn't built in a day. We all know that we haven't "arrived" yet, but we've made it a hell of a lot further than anyone expected. Most everyone on here would have been happy with a bowl game. Now that we've had a little taste of the spotlight, I know this team and staff can and will do better. Yeah, it may take time to get that talent in here and hit that "next level", but I truly believe we're headed in the right direction. As one of my best friends used to say, if you don't like it then you can get the hell out. #ponyupdallas
Re: We are being WAY outplayedicking killed us. We gave Memphis excellent field position on every kickoff and all but two punts. Tack on 30 yards of late hits and it was almost impossible for our D. D play very well against poor field position all night.
Kicking team lost the game, not the O or D. O made so many long drives. We had a short field one time! No turnovers. Memphis took care of the ball. Penalties in general. Over 100 yards. The O and D never gave up. Fought hard the hold game against field position adversity. Nt pleased we lost but this wasn't SMU f the last 30 years. Get some kickers and better special teams coverage and this is a different game.
